A tried and tested duo return.
HUSS won the first ALGS Pro League series in the Americas as Dooplex and Skittlecakes made their much anticipated reunion. The team, which also features Gent have become an iconic squad grinding ranked together. Their mix of talent, personality and an iconic team name have made them an instant fan favourite.
Elsewhere, we saw a strong performance from one of the Qualifier teams, with Unleash finishing 5th. This followed a great performance from Qualifier teams in the EMEA region earlier in the day.
Fan favourites HUSS take tense ALGS Pro League lobby
It was an incredibly close set of games as the ALGS Pro League finally got back underway. Almost every team had a clear path to winning the lobby after the first four games with just a handful of points separating most of the teams.

This was proved by HUSS, who sat in eighth with two games to go but managed to launch themselves all the way to the top spot in just two games. After a series of roster shuffles, there are a lot of unknown quantities in the region, and it seems to be a region that will be even more competitive than last year.
Despite all those reshuffles, the tried and tested duo of Dooplex and Skittlecakes is a force to be reckoned with. Gent makes a perfect addition to the roster, with the trio having been begged to compete together by fans after grinding ranked for several months. HUSS look to be benefitting from all the time spent together playing during the ALGS offseason.

There is a reason that Dooplex and Skittlecakes found so much success together on the likes of Esports Arena and OpTic. Their energy and flair synergises perfectly together, with their flexibility also perfectly suited to the new Legend Ban system.

Legend Bans arrive in the Americas
After EMEA kicked off Year 5 Pro League, we saw our first ever Legend Bans in the Americas. We obviously know very little about how teams are adapting to the new system, with scrims only giving a guide to what Legends are most popular.
Interestingly, the Legends that were banned did differ between the two regions. The two regions have always adopted different Legends but it was unclear if there would be enough of a difference to see variety in which Legends are banned.
Here are todays Legend Bans in the Americas:
- Ash (Game 2)
- Catalyst (Game 3)
- Wraith (Game 4)
- Alter (Game 5)
- Crypto (Game 6)
The most notable difference came for Game 6, with Crypto banned in Americas, whereas Newcastle was banned in EMEA. Crypto had been seen as a bit of an edge pick for teams who wanted to build around a Legend that wouldn't be banned. The beauty of the system is that with so many teams adopting this strategy, it backfired.
That also meant we saw a lot less Rampart in Americas than in EMEA. Lots of teams turned towards Rampart instead of Newcastle for the final E-District game. There was still 11 Ramparts in game 6, but alongside a huge 18 Newcastles to see the days action out.
