The Buster Sword is coming back to Apex Legends.
The Buster Sword is returning to Apex Legends as part of the Lunar Rebirth Collection event. The first, and only, Apex Legends collaboration is returning to celebrate the upcoming launch of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth which is releasing on PC on Feb. 29.
The Lunar Rebirth event kicks off on Jan. 21 and will see the return not only of the Sword, but also will bring back Materia as well as introducing a brand new Prestige Skin. Here's everything you need to know about the event.
Buster Sword and Materia returning to Apex Legends
The Buster Sword will be back as a weapon in Apex Legends, and will operate the same way as it did during the original Final Fantasy event in the game.
The Sword will have the same light and heavy attacks, ability to dash and also the ability to block too. The iconic Limit Break attack will also be avaliable, allowing you to replicate the iconic attack from the Final Fantasy series.
The event will be crossing over with the Rift Relics that have been avaliable in the game this season. You'll need to collect the Materia-Hop Ups from Rift Relics during the event. These once again all have unique impacts, and all work with specific weapons.
The Materia avaliable are as follows:
- Blue Materia - HP Absorb: damage enemies to heal yourself
- Green Materia - Lightning: reload an empty weapon to emit a shock nova, damaging and slowing nearby enemies
- Purple Materia - Crit Rate Up: random criticals provide extra damage
- Red Materia - Summon: summon a Nessie companion to attack your foes
