Could some major names be sent home tomorrow?
The ALGS Championship is entering the elimination stage, and several big names have found themselves in the wrong half of the bracket. Twenty teams will now fight for their survival tomorrow across a bumper eight game set of matches.
However, regardless of their performance, these 20 teams have now also forgone the chance to grab the best POI's in the ALGS match point finals. That right will go to the ten teams advancing from Saturday's Winners Round.
Several major names at risk of elimination
Ninjas In Pyjamas, Luminosity, Envy and NRG are names that many expected to see in the top half of the draw. However, all four teams have struggled to truly get going in Sapporo so far. In particular NRG and Luminosity have been major underperformers. Both teams could comfortably be viewed as Championship contenders. However there is significant work to do for either team to have a chance at lifting the trophy on Sunday.
Luminosity do have a good record in the first Elimination Round however. They absolutely dominated this stage of the event in Mannheim, Germany comfortably moving on to the next round. A big performance in this stage could provide a lifeline for their tournament, having looked totally out of sorts so far. The three players on Luminosity are undoubtedly capable of much more, and they will be desperate to show it tomorrow.
Envy will have the pick of their POI's in tomorrows Elimination Round 1, having narrowly finished outside of the top 20. They will also feel very confident in their ability to progress further in Sapporo.

Confidence and momentum will be key
The question is can these teams all find renewed momentum. Of course, no-one wants to be part of the first set of teams to be eliminated. However confidence is key in Apex Legends competition. That means a shaky start in the first matches tomorrow could be fatal for any of these teams chances.
Some of the smaller teams may feel like they have nothing to lose tomorrow. The chance to keep their LAN dream alive and take out one of the games biggest names could be a major motivator for them. These lobbies can get chaotic once some teams are mathematically qualified, so don't miss a single second of tomorrows ALGS action.
