Love is in the air as the Date Night LTM replaces Duos in the Apex Legends matchmaker with an interesting take on the BR mode.
Love is in the air as we enter February ahead of Valentine's Day. Of course, everyone has plans for Date Night but Apex Legends is doing it a bit differently. Enter the Date Night takeover, which is live now across all servers. It replaces Duos in the matchmaker and is an interesting take on the regular Battle Royale mode.
The Date Night LTM comes with plenty of unique perks that make it an enjoyable, yet wholesome game mode that emphasizes teamwork. In fact, it does so by rewarding teamwork and since it's Duos only, you're not dealing with a "third wheel" *wink*.
All Heals and Support Items have a small AOE
Heals and support items in the Date Night takeover work in a small AOE around your legend that also heal your squadmate partner. This drastically increases your squad's staying power in duos as long as you work together. The AOE is indicated through a pink radius around your legend. Spread the love and heal the world!
Steal hearts with this pink Bocek on Date Night in Apex Legends
Additionally, the Bocek has received a drastic makeover along with a significant buff in the Date Night takeover event! It spawns everywhere on the map and gets a unique pink skin that makes it stand out. It's called the "Heart Stealer" for a reason. It gets the ability to lifesteal with every hit, quite literally. Except, the lifesteal doesn't apply to you, it heals your teammate. So make your shots count and keep yourself in the game.
Valentine's Day-themed quirks and GUI changes
In addition to the unique gameplay changes to the Duos Battle Royale mode, Date Night adds some interesting quirks to the game's interface. The "Your Squad" screen is replaced with a "Your Partner" screen. Other than that, there's no Champion Squad in this game mode. Instead, there's the "Cutest Couple." Here's your chance to become an Apex Legends power couple! Interestingly, thanking your teammate is replaced with an I Love You prompt and the Legends have unique voice lines for this.
The Date Night Takeover was announced alongside the Celestial Sunrise collection event update. It runs from February 8 to 14 and will replace Duos in the Matchmaker.
