In their opening match at Champions 2025, T1 defeated Dragon Ranger Gaming (DRG) 2-0. In a highly intense series, the Korean team proved superior and will advance in the Upper Bracket. Next, they will face Team Heretics, the runners-up of Champions 2024. Who will come on top?
T1 DH debuted on the international stage
The spotlight in DRG’s match fell on T1’s Kang "DH" Dong-ho, the 19-year-old rookie who joined the Korean organization this year. He started to play for the Academy team, but his talent was undeniable. The Omen player then earned a spot on the main roster, where he competed in VCT Pacific: Stage 2. T1 secured fourth place.
In his international debut, DH laughed about how he caused the long tech pause due to his PC not working as it should. "I'm very happy that we won. Even though the second map took a little bit more energy than I anticipated, I'm just thankful that my teammates were there to help," he added. "This is just the beginning."
Regarding their aggressive and oppressive playstyle on Sunset, Kim "stax" Gu-taek expressed confidence that they are the best team in their region, adding that their mentality was simply: “we’re going to break all the doors in our way.” As for DRG, they were very strong, and the addition of Demon1 had no impact on the team’s preparation. However, even with his short time in the team, stax believes he played "spectacularly well."
T1's adaptation and preparation for Champions 2025
Upon the team’s early arrival in the city of love, coach Yoon "Autumn" Eu-teum explained that it was important for the players to adjust to the time zone and ensure they were in peak condition. The high-quality scrims also proved beneficial, as they more closely resembled the level of competition they would face compared to scrimming in APAC.
