G2 vs TH at Champions 2025: Match recaps

Map 1: Corrode

G2 and Team Heretics never fail to deliver a back-and-forth battle, leaving no room to breathe or even think. Both teams came out swinging, confident in their strengths. The first half highlighted Team Heretics’ sharp execution on attack, calculated and deliberate. But the recent Sage buffs proved crucial for G2’s defense, making the agent a key pick. JonahP stood out in particular, using walls and orbs to disrupt TH’s rhythm and stall their advances.

In the second half, Team Heretics came out far more confident, locking down sites with a rock-solid defense and plenty of Odin firepower. RieNs even pulled off an incredible ace with the Odin as G2 tried to break into A. Riding that momentum, TH strung together eight straight rounds, putting G2 in a difficult position. But after a crucial timeout to reset, G2 rallied back with two rounds of their own, inching closer on the scoreboard and keeping the game alive. However, that was not enough to change the game's outcome. The first match goes to Team Heretics!

Map 2: Lotus

The second map started far better for the Samurais, as G2 took complete control of Lotus with an aggressive, high-pressure defense that denied Team Heretics any chance to claim space. The Odin once again proved pivotal, punishing off-angles and tight corridors to secure key picks. With a commanding 6-0 lead, G2 piled the pressure onto TH, forcing a timeout to reset their approach. The pause paid off, as Team Heretics managed to rally and secure five rounds before the half. That was the confidence Team Heretics needed to bring this match to a close score.

The attack was a little bit more difficult for G2. Team Heretics' defense was very solid due to the double sentinel composition, which ended up bringing a lot of difficulties to the NA team. The heavy-based utility combo by Team Heretics was proving to be very efficient. G2 recovered some space in the meantime, winning two rounds, but the game was very difficult for them. Breaking through Team Heretics’ tight, high-pressure defense proved to be a daunting challenge.

With just five HP and a dream, Trent couldn’t prevent Team Heretics from closing the map at 12-10. What followed was a true battle of resilience. Despite a strong start and a significant lead, G2 ultimately fell to a confident and relentless Team Heretics, who are now poised to take the next step at VALORANT Champions 2025.
