You’ll need the right Descendant to destroy Void Fragments.
Void Fragment missions are secondary quests in The First Descendant which revolve around destroying Void Fragments in an area before the Vulgus research them.
There are several Void Fragment missions in each zone in The First Descendant and more will respawn quickly as you finish them. You can farm these at your own will and earn rewards such as weapons, Modules, Mastery XP, and Void Shards.
Although these Void Fragment missions aren't difficult, there's a proper way of destroying Void Fragments.
How to destroy Void Fragments in The First Descendant
To destroy Void Fragments in The First Descendant, you'll need to utilize a Descendant with the same Attribute as the Void Fragment.
Therefore, if you wish to destroy a Void Fragment with an Electric attribute, you'll need to play with a Descendant who shares that attribute and use one of their abilities to destroy the object. To ease up things for you, here's the Attribute of every Descendant.
- Chill: Viessa, Ultimate Viessa
- Electric: Bunny, Ultimate Bunny, Sharen
- Fire: Blair, Esiemo, Lepic, Ultimate Lepic
- Toxic: Freyna
- Non-Attribute: Ajax, Ultimate Ajax, Enzo, Gley, Ultimate Gley, Jayber, Kyle, Valby, Yujin
You'll know the Attribute of a Void Fragment when you hover over it on the map as the screenshot below shows.

Quick Tips on how to Destroy Void Fragment in the First Descendant
- Use a Descendant's abilities with the same element to damage the Void Fragment to begin
- At 2/3 health Void Fragment will become immune, kill the mob to remove the barrier
- Damage the Void Fragment more until its 1/3 health, a new mob will appear
- Kill the 2nd Mob to remove the barrier, destroy the Void Fragment before next mob
- Collect your rewards
Once you have the right character to destroy the Void Fragment, prepare yourself for the battle. After you strike the Void Fragment with an ability, a three-stage health bar will pop on your screen.
You'll only need to hit the Void Fragment two or three times to complete the first stage, and then a wave of enemies will swarm you and the Void Fragment will become immune. This is know as the Destruction Target Barrier. Get rid of the enemies, and then you can hit the Void Fragment once more.
When the second health bar is finished, the Void Fragment will become immune again, and more enemies will spawn. Clear this last wave of enemies, and proceed to hit the Void Fragment for the third time to destroy it and collect the rewards. A new Void Fragment will spawn almost immediately if you want to run it back.
How to use the Void Shards
As we said, completing Void Fragment missions will reward you with Void Shards, among other stuff. The Void Shards are used in Void Fusion Reactor missions, which are also secondary quests.
Once you have a few Void Shards in your possession, open up the map and see if you can complete one of the Void Fusion Reactor missions.
In the screenshot below, for example, you need Organic and Inorganic Void Shards to power up the reactor. Completing these missions will give you additional rewards.
