Struggling to beat Alzaroke the Loyalist Boss in The First Descendant? Here’s our tips to take him down before he burns you alive with fireballs.
Alzaroke is the second boss outside of Intercept Battles that you will face in The First Descendant, and you'll need a different approach to beat him than you did for Eterllick.
When you meet Alzaroke he's been juiced up thanks to the manipulation of the Ironheart. The game does a good way of telling you he's a beast, but as long as you keep the beast at a distance, he's tame.
How to beat Alzaroke in The First Descendant
Alzaroke is a fairly straight forward boss, and success in the battle will revolve around your loadout and how well you can use cover. Alzaroke only has two phases. In Phase 1 he hurls Fireballs and is supported by fairly weak mobs, in Phase 2 he summons some bodyguards but nothing you can't handle. This boss is very doable Solo, you won't need a squad to take him down.
Recommended Loadout:
- AR/SMG - To quickly take down the weaker enemies that constantly spawn
- Sniper Rifle - To crack Alzaroke's Health Bar and force him into Phase 2
- Launcher (optional) - To kill the Follower Assault Soldiers he's linked to in Phase 2
Shotguns are not worth bringing to this fight as you'll want to avoid being anywhere near Alzaroke and his goons. If you're playing a character like Bunny with strong AOE damage, you can choose to not bring a Launcher but instead roll with an SMG/AR, Scout Rifle and then a Sniper.
General Tips:
- Keep moving: Alzaroke does not have a teleport ability so you can separate him from his mob
- Use cover: There are several walls around the battlefield you should dash between
- Use a launcher or AOE ability to wipe out the Follower Assault Soldiers
- Use a Sniper Rifle to crack Alzaroke fast
- Use your tactical roll ALL the time
- Do NOT try to get close to Alzaroke
If you keep dying, consider taking to time to Enhance Modules, level up your Weapons or to Enhance a Unique Ability.

Alzaroke Phase 1: Great Balls of Fire
In Phase 1 of the boss fight, Alzaroke the Loyalist has a very powerful AOE ability that will hurl fireballs in all directions. This can easily catch you off guard, especially if you're close to him. Whenever he does this ability, avoid engaging in gunfire and run for cover.
Take out your Sniper Rifle and peek and shoot to quickly move to the next Phase. Alzaroke is a slow and big target, a sniper's dream.
Keep your distance
Going to close to Alzaroke is a death wish, and you should try to avoid completely. There are plenty of Pillars and cover dotted around the battlefield. Once you lay into him with a round, change position.
Alzaroke Phase 2: Follower Assault Soldiers
Once you break Alzaroke the Loyalist's first health bar, he will summon an army of Follower Assault Soldiers for his Phase 2. These soldiers are linked to him, and you can not deal damage to Alzaroke until you eliminate all of the Assault Soldiers.
They will move in a pack but Alzaroke is a few steps slower, so just run to the other side of the battlefield and pick off his Assault Soldiers off slowly.
You can also use a Launcher weapon to do nice AOE damage. Do NOT wasted Sniper Bullets or High-Power Rounds on these soldiers. Once you've killed them, Alzaroke will be vulnerable once more and will revert back to Phase 1.
You'll need to do this process three times until Alzaroke the Loyalist will eventually fall, leading a cut-scene. Remember if you do die, you will lose all your progress in the Boss Battle. If you run out of respawns then you will have to do the entire mission again, so take your time and avoid those fireballs!
