The Deer is hurt, and it’s up to you to help him.

The latest update of 99 Nights in the Forest left us with the most unlikely scenario: the game’s main antagonist, the Deer, got hurt in a fight with another monster, and now it needs your help.

Whether you like the Deer or not, helping the wounded creature will give you a temporary buff that will allow you to survive more days, especially if you’re not that good at fending off those nightly cultist attacks.

If you just recently played 99 Nights and you noticed the Deer writhing in pain near your campsite, here’s what you should do.

Helping the Deer in 99 Nights in the Forest

Follow these instructions to save the Deer:

Step 1: Gather some healing items

Explore around the forest first and look for HP-restoring items like bandages or Medkits. We previously made a guide on where to get bandages in 99 Nights in the Forest, so check it out if you can’t find one.

As soon as you get at least two, proceed to the next step.

Step 2: Use the items to heal the Deer’s wounded leg and antler

Go to the Deer’s location and apply the items to heal its broken body parts. It will start to regain consciousness and move to a sitting position.

Step 3: Gather food and feed it to the Deer

Your next goal is to help the Deer take back some of its strength by feeding it any type of food. Steak provides a faster recovery time for the Deer, so it would be best if you could take down those wolves around the map to give the Deer something to eat.

Once you have enough food, the Deer will start standing up but will stumble back into a sitting position and become wary of its surroundings. Be prepared for some combat.

Step 4: Protect the Deer from the Alpha Wolves

A couple of Alpha Wolves will spawn around the Deer, so whatever your class is, make sure you have an equipped weapon with you. Spear will make short work of those canines, but you can also use long-range weapons like a revolver or the Alien’s Raygun.

Step 5: Give one of the Purple Fur Tufts to the Deer

See those purple yam-like things lying around the Deer? Apparently, those are pieces of fur from the creature that attacked the Deer. Give one to the Deer, and it will start running towards a nearby cave.

Congratulations! You just helped the poor Deer back to its feet!

What happens after you help the Deer in 99 Nights in the Forest?

A short cutscene will start once the Deer reaches the cave. The Deer’s eyes will turn red, and it will attack the winged creature inside. A message will pop up on your screen, saying that the Deer will remember your help.

If you enter the cave where the Deer got its revenge, you will find a legendary chest. Also, from now on, for a few nights, if the cultist attacks your camp, the Deer will switch sides and help you take down the cultists.

The Deer doesn’t deal massive amounts of damage to the cultists, but it surely helps a lot in spreading them around and drawing their attention away from you. This will let you defeat them one by one using any weapon you have.
