This soft and malleable material can help you craft various things in the game.
Whether you want to craft some bricks or spice up your indoor space with vases and mugs, Squishy clay is one of the most essential materials for building towns in Pokémon Pokopia. If you’re somehow in the early phases of creating your settlement, you might find this material hard to find, since it’s not obtainable in all areas of the Withered Wasteland.
We found some locations that you can check out, so you can farm this material really quickly and without much trouble.
Key highlights:
- Squishy clay is a material found by using Rock Smash on clay tiles.
- Clay tiles can be found in the cave area of the Withered Wasteland or all around the Bleak Beach.
Best places to get Squishy clay in Pokémon Pokopia
For new players who haven’t been in other biomes yet, the best location for farming Squishy clay is the northwest section of the Withered Wasteland, inside the same cave where Onix got trapped.
Upon entering the cave, look for clay tiles like the one shown in the image below. These tiles resemble layered soil in varying shades of brown, often marked by one or two small dots on their surface.

Use Rock Smash on those clay tiles, and they’ll turn into pieces of Squishy clay. Easy peasy!
If you need more, you can also go to Bleak Beach and look for the same clay tiles scattered all around the place. Clay tiles may look identical to cliff rocks, so you can just smash them to check if they can be converted into Squishy clay or not.

To access Bleak Beach, progress through the main requests, including saving Onix in the cave, helping Slowpoke trigger rain, and eventually meeting Kyogre.
