How does Corviknight stack up in Pokémon GO PvP now it has released into the game?
Corviknight is finally avaliable in Pokémon GO, and it looks set to be a very strong Pokémon for Trainers to use in PvP. It's been a while since we've seen a Pokémon that features strongly in the PvP meta enter the game. So, naturally, there has been a lot of anticipation about this Pokémon releasing.
To save you the hassle, we've analysed Corviknights impact on the PvP meta to let you know where this Pokémon will be useful and why. Here's what you need to know.
Is Corviknight good in Pokémon GO PvP?
Yes - Corviknight is an excellent Pokémon for PvP and is an absolute must-grab if you take PvP seriously in Pokémon GO. Crucially, Corviknight features strongly in two of the three Leagues, making it flexible.
However, to be good in these Leagues it does need Iron Head. That is an exclusive move only avaliable either through Elite TM or by evolving Corvisquire during the Steeled Resolve event.
Here is how Corviknight stacks up in the different PvP categories in Pokémon GO:
Is Corviknight good in the Great League?
In the Great League, Corviknight is the #6 ranked Pokémon to use. That makes it a really great option for your team. Additionally, it does not require XL candy for it to get to the 1500 CP limit that is enforced in the Great League.
Thanks to its typing, it has some strong matchups against Clodsire, Jumpluff and Azumarill that are all popular choices in the Great League. However, watch out for Galarian Corsola, Talonflame and Mandibuzz. These are all popular choices that Corviknight does not fare well against.
Consider pairing Corviknight up with Mandibuzz, Shadow Feraligatr, Primeape, Dunsparce or Galarian Corsola when building your Great League team.

Is Corviknight good in the Ultra League?
It's not that often that a Pokémon fares well in multiple leagues. However, as well as being good in the Great League Corviknight is the single best Ultra League Pokémon, ranked number one overall. However, unlike in the Great League, you will need XL candy to reach close to the 2500 CP limit.
It pairs well with Feraligatr, Zygarde, Altered Forme Giratina, Primeape and Tentacruel in this format.
Is Corviknight good in the Master League?
Due to having a maximum overall CP of 2777, Corviknight is not good in the Master League. Two out of three isn't bad though!
What are the best Pokémon GO PvP IV's for Corviknight?
However, to get optimised PvP IV's for Corviknight you will need a lot of Magnetic Lure Modules. You cannot get the best IVs from 2 km Eggs, so wild spawns via the Lure Module is your best bet.
Don't transfer any Rookidee's without checking for those IV's! Here are what to look out for:
- The best Corviknight Great League PvP IV is 0/13/14
- The best Corviknight Ultra League PvP IV is 0/15/15
That could be hard to find. As a general rule, low attack IVs and high defence and HP IVs are better for Pokémon GO PvP. A Corviknight without the optimised Pokémon GO PvP IV will still be very good.
Don't forget you could trade Rookidees with a friend, and this will re-roll the IVs. This would be especially good for hatched Rookidee, which have a 10/10/10 floor from Eggs.
