Secure yourself the king of all Poké Balls in Pokémon Legends: Z-A.
The Master Ball is the rarest Poké Ball in the entire Pokémon franchise, and that hasn't changed in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. Like most other Pokémon games, you can only acquire a single Master Ball during your time in Lumiose City. However, with Pokémon Legends: Z-A featuring a much different story than most games, how you go about acquiring this rare Poké Ball is going to be much more difficult.
Below, you can see exactly how to get your hands on the one Master Ball in the entirety of Pokémon Legends: Z-A.
Getting the Master Ball in Pokémon Legends: Z-A
Fortunately, the method to get the Master Ball is extremely straightforward. Of course, there's a catch when it comes to the method itself, as it will likely take you dozens, if not hundreds, of hours of in-game time.
The only way to acquire the Master Ball in Pokémon Legends: Z-A is by completing levels in Mable's Research. Mable's Research allows you to unlock a variety of items and TMs that you can't find anywhere else in Lumiose City. You earn levels in Mable's Research by completing requests given to you by Mable, all of which can be found in the "Mable's Research" tab through the main menu.

Basically, catching Pokémon of all different types will net you enough XP to soar through the various levels. However, there are 50 levels in total, and reaching the max level will take the entirety of your time in Pokémon Legends: Z-A.
The Master Ball is unlocked through Mable's Research at level 49, just one below the max level. You'll have to acquire thousands of XP to reach this level and essentially complete every request that Mable throws your way during the course of the story and post-game. In fact, it will likely take you deep into the post-game before you're able to earn enough points to reach level 49.
This is the only way to earn a Master Ball in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, so you'd better get cracking on your research requests if you want the Poké Ball that never fails.
