Get ready to take on Hoopa in Pokémon GO.

Hoopa is finally back in Pokémon GO, with no Elite Raids in sight. Hoopa Unbound will feature in Raids across a special Raid Day, taking place on Saturday Feb. 15 from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. local time.

Additionally, in Pokémon GO you can now change Hoopa's form regardless of if you have completed the Mischief Unbound Special Research. That means you can get both forms of Hoopa during this Raid Day.

Hoopa Unbound is a really powerful Psychic-type attacker in Pokémon GO, ranking above Pokémon like Lunala, Latios and both Necrozma Fusion formes.

So, here is everything you need to know when taking on Hoopa Unbound in Pokémon GO.

Best Hoopa counters in Pokémon GO:

Hoopa has a weakness to Fairy-type attacks, and a double weakness to Bug-type attacks in Pokémon GO. It only has one resistance, which is to Psychic-type attacks.

Here are the best counters for Hoopa Unbound.

Mega Pinsir
Fury Cutter & X-Scissor
Mega Scizor
Fury Cutter & X-Scissor
Mega Heracross
Struggle Bug & Megahorn
Volcarona
Bug Bite & Bug Buzz
Genesect
Fury Cutter & X-Scissor
Scizor
Fury Cutter & X-Scissor
Vikavolt
Bug Bite & X-Scissor
Yanmega
Bug Bite & Bug Buzz
Golisopod
Fury Cutter & X-Scissor
Escavalier
Bug Bite & Megahorn
Lokix
Bug Bite & Bug Buzz
Durant
Bug Bite & X-Scissor

There isn't a lot of use for Bug-types in Pokémon GO, so a lot of these best Hoopa counters are probably not Pokémon you have powered up or used before. Escavalier featured in last weekends Pokémon GO Community Day, so is a good start for your team.

Otherwise, Scizor, Genesect, and Volcarona are all Pokémon Trainers are likely to have in their collection.

Besides these Bug-types, other Pokémon that know Bug-type moves will also be good to use given Hoopa's double weakness to Bug-type attacks. That includes Pokémon like Xerneas, Mega Sceptile, Kartana and Keldeo.

Can Hoopa be shiny in Pokémon GO?

No, as the shiny has never released in any game ever, Hoopa cannot be shiny in Pokémon GO.
