Ready for the ultimate grind?

Completing Mable’s Research can become one of the most time-consuming tasks in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. It involves doing a long list of errands for Mable, the acting director of the Pokémon Research Lab in Lumiose City.

For each completed research task, Mable will provide you with research points. Reaching a certain amount of research points will increase your research level, in which Mable will reward you with either a TM or an item that is usually unobtainable by normal means.

Although most of the tasks requested by Mable can be unconsciously performed by the player as they make their way through the storyline, some of the research tasks that give the most points will require some patience and effort to complete.

This guide will give you the perfect workaround in shortening the time you need to reach research level 50 in Mable’s Research.

Fastest ways to complete Mable’s Research in Pokémon Legends: Z-A

Here are a couple of tasks that you can prioritize if you want to get to higher research levels as fast as possible in Legends: Z-A.

Catching all Pokémon in every Wild Zone

Capturing every wild Pokémon in a Wild Zone can help you complete multiple research tasks, such as catching a specific Pokémon type, filling your Pokédex, and surveying a Wild Zone.

Completing Wild Zone Surveys is the most efficient method to level up quickly in Mable’s Research, as it gives 1,000 research points for each cleared Wild Zone.

When catching wild Pokémon in Wild Zones, keep in mind that some Pokémon only appear at night, so you might need to shift the in-game time to night by sitting on a bench or sleeping in your room at Hotel Z.

Spam-evolving and Pokémon battles

This method involves evolving all first-stage Pokémon that you have by leveling them up in the Z-A Royal or restaurants. Bug-type Pokémon are the most ideal for spam-evolving since they evolve at early levels.

Triggering a certain number of Pokémon Evolutions regardless of species or type can give 500 research points, and you’ll also get more from winning Pokémon battles.

Trainer tip: If you’re having trouble with catching lots of Dragon types, catching wild Noibat in the Lumiose Sewers is the way to go. Additionally, you can speedrun battles in the Z-A Royale or restaurants by using a Lucario with Extreme Speed (doesn't work against Ghost types, though).

Mable’s Research Progress in Legends: Z-A

When completing Mable’s Research, keep an eye on each task’s progress so you can see how many times you should fulfill a request before you can claim the research point rewards.

Each task is divided into several parts, and as you get closer to the final part, you’ll sometimes receive higher research point rewards. Get all of this information by opening the Request Tab in Mable’s Research to view each request’s details.
