Flasks changed a lot compared to the game’s prequel, and upgrading them is essential.

There are many changes between Path of Exile 2 and its original prequel, but none are as significant as the flask system. Previously you could hold five flasks providing more than just health or mana: from movement speed buffs to elemental resistance boosts, a good set of flasks made the difference in an endgame build.

On first launch, PoE players were shocked to find just two flask slots available; one for health, and one for mana. Many of the old bonus flask effects were rolled into the new Charms system, so what's the deal with flasks now?

Here's how to use and upgrade your flasks in Path of Exile 2.

When you first create your character you'll have two "Lesser" flasks. These will be handy in the early game but as you progress, you'll need to equip higher-grade flasks as your life and mana scale up. The best way to upgrade these flasks is to find them in the field by killing enemies.

You can also trade for flasks from certain NPC's such as those found in Act 1's Clearfell Encampment. However, they will cost you resources you can better spend or use elsewhere. I recommend continuing through the main story: flasks drop often enough!

The classic method to upgrade normal flasks to rare flasks is still possible in PoE2. By using an Orb of Transmutation, you'll be able to add modifiers and boosts to your health and mana flask.

Then, you can use Orbs of Augmentation to reroll the modifiers on each flask. These modifiers may increase the amount of health or mana restored, or reduce it but instantly apply the recovery as opposed to stretching it out over a short period.

That's all for now. For more PoE2 guides check out esports.gg!
