The Freezethaw Elimination game mode is back for Overwatch 2's 2023 holiday season! Read on for our guide on how the Overwatch 2 Freezethaw Elimination game mode works and how to win.
Overwatch 2 Freezethaw Elimination guide
Enter the holiday game mode by heading into the Arcade and selecting the "Winter Brawls" option. You can also select the Winter Wonderland event from the main menu and click on the "Modes" button to access this game mode.
Next, assemble your team of four heroes. There's no limit in terms of your team composition. In Freezethaw Elimination, once your hero wins a round, they cannot be chosen again. You can select your heroes based on the different maps as well. These maps include Necropolis, Castillo, Black Forest, Ayutthaya, and Ecopoint: Antarctica.

Once you enter a round, work with your teammates to destroy the enemy team. Make sure to check your surroundings as well. This is because falling off the map counts as an elimination and you can no longer rejoin the fight in that round.
To unfreeze a teammate, you must go up to them and hold the "F" key. This lets them rejoin the fight. Remember that the enemy team can do the same. Therefore, you can coordinate and take down enemies within close proximity of each other or camp frozen enemies. This makes it difficult for them to unfreeze each other.
Your team wins the round after freezing the entire enemy team. Win three rounds in total to claim the match victory. Don't forget to endorse your crew for a job well done.
Playing this holiday game mode results in Battle Pass XP plus some progression in the Freezethaw Fighter Winter Wonderland event challenge.
