Locate all the best spots for farming the rare Nirnroot!
Finding Nirnroots for the Seeking Your Roots quest in Oblivion Remastered can take lots of time if you don’t have any idea where these herbs usually appear. Its variant, the Crimson Nirnroot, is infamous for being part of one of the most hated quests in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, where players must search every corner of Blackreach to collect 50 Crimson Nirnroots.
But going back to Oblivion Remastered, you’ll need a whopping total of 100 Nirnroots to complete the Seeking Your Roots quest.
For those who are still looking around Cyrodiil for this rare plant, we’ll give you the best farming route so you can eventually meet the required amount that Sinderion needs.
How to start the Seeking Your Roots quest in Oblivion Remastered

You can trigger the Seeking Your Roots quest in Oblivion Remastered by simply stumbling upon a Nirnroot and picking it up. The moment the plant enters your inventory, you’ll get the quest, which involves bringing the sprig to an alchemist in any Cyrodilic city.
Any alchemist you ask about Nirnroot will suggest that you visit Sinderion, an Altmer who lives in a cellar beneath the West Weald Inn in Skingrad. Sinderion is another alchemist with extensive knowledge about Nirnroot, and he’ll ask you to collect 100 Nirnroots in batches.

For every batch of Nirnroot that you bring to Sinderion, the Altmer will concoct a special potion called the Elixir of Exploration. Sinderion will reward you with a particular type of this elixir as you complete the required amount for each batch.
Here’s how many Nirnroots you need to get for every batch of the Seeking Your Roots quest:
Batch | Amount of Nirnroots required | Reward from Sinderion |
---|---|---|
Batch 1 | 10 | Weak Elixir of Exploration |
Batch 2 | 20 | Moderate Elixir of Exploration |
Batch 3 | 30 | Strong Elixir of Exploration |
Batch 4 | 40 | Grand Elixir of Exploration |

Best farming route for finding Nirnroots in Oblivion Remastered

You can find Nirnroots near bodies of water around Cyrodiil, especially in the shorelines of Lake Rumare and the Niben River. These plants are also easier to spot because they emit a sound when you walk near them, and are usually located beside large rocks or underneath some bridges.
There are around 300 Nirnroots in Oblivion Remastered, and check the image below for the best route for farming them. You can mark the northwest shoreline of Anvil as your starting point and work your way through the Gold Coast and West Weald until you arrive at the Larsius River that connects to the Niben Bay.

Keep heading north toward Lake Rumare, and while you stay alert for any Nirnroot along the shore, you might encounter Mudcrabs, stray wolves, and even bandits along the way. The route ends in the city of Bravil.
Since this route covers a massive portion of Cyrodiil, it also gives you the opportunity to discover more locations you might want to visit later. However, you don’t need to complete the entire path if you're only focused on the Seeking Your Roots quest, as you'll likely reach the 100 Nirnroot quota about halfway through your journey.
