Chaosrealm’s finest awaits you at the finish line.

Mortal Kombat 1 is finally here for those who pre-ordered the Premium or Kollectors Edition. However, players who load up the game might notice that one character remains locked. By process of elimination, Havik is the odd man out. Here is how you can unlock Havik to complete your Mortal Kombat 1 roster.

How to unlock Havik in Mortal Kombat 1

Apart from Shang Tsung, who is a pre-order bonus, Havik is the only character that you cannot play instantly. To unlock Havik, all you must do is complete the Mortal Kombat 1 campaign mode.

According to GameSpot, the story mode spans 15 chapters and will take roughly five to six hours to complete. Once you have reached the end, Havik will await you at the character select screen.

That will leave you with all 23 primary characters, provided you pre-ordered the game to unlock Shang Tsung.

Who is Havik? Why is he locked?

Havik is a fan-favorite character from Mortal Kombat’s 3D era of games. Mainly, he appeared in Deception and Armageddon but also had cameos in other titles.

Havik was a resident of the Chaosrealm in previous installments—one of the six main realms within the Mortal Kombat universe. From an abilities perspective, he can manipulate his body to inflict pain upon his opponents.

Here is Havik’s bio per the official Mortal Kombat 1 website:

“A citizen of the realm Seido, Havik is sworn to take down its oppressive regime and free his people. There, order is prized above all else. Lawbreaking is met with strict punishment. Its citizens live in strictly regulated castes.

As a member of Seido's lowest caste, Havik had neither rights nor privileges. He seethed with anger at the injustice. When he is brutally punished for a minor crime, Havik finally decides to act. He sets out to destroy Seido's regime and replace it with an anarchist utopia. Once he breaks Seido's social order. Havik will free its citizens. Together, they will live in blessed anarchy.”
