Jae-yong in Brawl Stars is not your average Support: Two faces of the karaoke king

Switch between this brawler’s two modes to support your team in different situations. Brawl Stars’ Jae-yong also has unique features, like an auto-charging Super.

Playing Support in Brawl Stars is not the easiest role. You need to consider the actions of your teammates and understand possible strategies. It’s not like rushing forward mindlessly with your sword out.

With Jae-yong as your Brawl Stars character, you have an additional layer of complexity. It could be a boost to the team's success, though.

Jae-yong joins Brawl Stars with the in-game season Battle for Katana Kingdom. Even before it starts, the new brawler is available for purchase in the shop. Everything you need to know about this Mythic Support is here.

Brawl Stars Jae-yong: An office worker and karaoke fan

During work hours, you’ll find Jae-yong in his office and at the desk surrounded by important papers. The heart of this guy is far away, though. In the evenings, Jae-yong rushes to a karaoke bar and reveals his other side — exciting parties with lots of singing.

Jae-yong gameplay: How to play this brawler

Switching between two modes is the key feature of Brawl Stars Jae-yong. It changes how the main attack works and the effect of his Super.

  • Jae-yong in the work mode throws less-damaging projectiles, but the side effect is pretty significant: this basic attack boosts the movement speed for the brawler and his allies.
  • In the party mode, Jae-yong’s projectiles deal more damage and also heal teammates.

  • Super attack switches these modes. Its effect is different: an increased movement speed in the work mode and healing in the party mode. Jae-yong’s Super affects allies around, and you can see its type by the color.

Unlike other Brawl Stars character, Jae-yong doesn't need to land his main attack to charge Super. It recharges automatically and pretty quickly.

The best build for Jae-yong in Brawl Stars

The Star Powers and Gadgets of Jae-yong are whirling around the speed and damage. The best build depends on your preferences in the game. Would you like to emphasize the work-mode effect or increase the damage in both modes?

Going for bigger damage with Jae-yong’s build is a universally effective decision.

  • Star Power 2: Extra High Note. Each main attack deals higher damage.
  • Gadget 1: Weekend Warrior. This Gadget creates a damaging area and temporarily strengthens Jae-yong’s main attack.

The other possible choices are Star Power 1: The Crowd Goes Mild, which increases Jae-yong’s movement speed if a teammate is in range, and Gadget 2: Time For A Slow Song, which slows the opponents down. This build requires good coordination in the team and experience in Brawl Stars.

As for Gears, you can go for Damage to increase the effect from Star Power 2 and Gadget 1. The other Gear for Jae-yong should protect the brawler (Shield) or increase his survivability (Health).

A pro brawler

It’s difficult to unleash the true potential of Jae-yong with random teammates. The brawler shines the best with good communication and well-coordinated actions. Pro teams certainly can show everyone what Jae-yong is really capable of: for example, during the Brawl Stars Championship 2025 events.

A special Support mindset is essential to play Jae-yong effectively. You need to feel where extra speed or healing is needed. You have a special role in team actions, which is not strictly about dealing damage.

Even in the solo queue, Jae-yong can be a great Brawl Stars character. Just don’t play solo and consider even random players as your teammates. With this approach, Jae-yong is good at different game modes, except for Solo Showdown.

How to unlock Brawl Stars Jae-yong for free

Starting from April 24, Jae-yong is present in the Brawl Stars shop within an Early Access bundle. You can pay cash, and receive the brawler with some Coins, Gems, the Jammin' Jae skin, and a few pins and sprays.

This bundle is available for a limited time. However, Jae-yong can occasionally return to the shop among other offers. This happens with other newer brawlers as well.

With the start of the Battle for Katana Kingdom on May 1, Jae-yong is available on Starr Road, so you can unlock him for free.

  • Mythic brawlers cost 1,900 Credits.
  • You can earn Credits via Trophy Road: play the game and accumulate Brawl Stars Trophies.
  • Credits are rewards in Brawl Pass tiers and character mastery.

If you have many unlocked characters, Jae-yong may need to wait for his turn on Starr Road.
