The Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Philippines (MPL PH) Season 17 is shaping up to be an interesting moment in the region. Aside from the promising rookies debuting this season, Team Liquid and ONIC PH have signed Indonesian imports for their lineup. This caused mixed reactions in the community, as most believe the Philippines already has plenty of promising talents that deserve a chance. That said, fans are on high alert and curious to see how these Indonesian imports will perform in the upcoming tournament.

Just like last season, games will be played with the recent map changes. This means that, before a match starts, a map will be chosen at random to shake up the competition. As for the MPL PH Season 17 tournament, it’s divided into two sections, the Regular Season and the Playoffs. The crowned champion will go home with the lion’s share of the $150,000 prize pool.
Regular Season
The Regular Season will be held on March 20 and will last until May 17, 2025. Matches will be in a Double round-robin Best-of-three (Bo3) format. The winner of each series will get one point. The top 6 teams at the end of the regular season will proceed to the playoffs.
Playoffs
As for the Playoffs, it is set to kick off on May 27 to 31, 2026. This phase will follow a hybrid format. The 3rd and 6th-seeded teams will face each other in the first round on a single-elimination format. Meanwhile, the 1st and 2nd-seeded teams will head straight to the second round, which features a double-elimination format.
All matches, with the exception of the Lower Bracket and Grand Finals, will be in a Best-of-five (Bo5) series. The last two matches of the tournament will be settled in a Best-of-Seven (Bo7) series.

That said, two teams signed Indonesian imports to fuel their run this season. The Cavaliers signed Sultan “AeronnShikii” Muhammad to replace Kiel “Oheb” Q.Soriano in the Gold Lane, along with former Team SMG SG, Ong “Aeon” Wei, as the head coach. Meanwhile, ONIC PH is also switching up their Gold Lane, trading Grant “Kelra” Pillas with Indonesia’s Clayton “Savero” Kuswanto.
