When can we expect the Ranked Mode to launch in Marathon?
Marathon might be a brand new extraction shooter on the market, but that doesn’t mean it’s going to be lacking in content. In addition to an entire seasonal roadmap plus all of the content we saw during the Server Slam, Marathon is also introducing a Ranked Mode. This is the first time we’ve seen a Ranked experience in an extraction shooter, but Bungie is taking the leap with Marathon’s more difficult and hardcore gameplay loop.
Of course, just because we know a Ranked Mode exists doesn’t mean much. What players really want to know is when Ranked is arriving in Marathon, and you can find the answer to that question in the guide below.
Ranked Mode release date in Marathon
At the time of writing, we have no concrete release date for the Ranked Mode in Marathon. Bungie is likely focused on getting the launch right in terms of content, bugs, and stability.
However, we do have a release window for Ranked, and it’s set to arrive within the first month of Marathon’s launch on March 5. This means by the time early April rolls around, we’ll get to see how a Ranked Mode works in an extraction shooter.
How will Ranked work in Marathon?
Bungie hasn’t confirmed any additional details about Ranked, though, so we’re still waiting to see exactly how they’re planning on handling the mode. Many players have assumed that there will be some kind of loadout value threshold that players need to meet in order to queue up in a Ranked game.
From there, if you extract from a map with more value than you dropped in with, you’ll gain XP to the next rank. However, if you die or extract with less value than you dropped in with, you’ll lose XP in your current rank.
We don’t know what the ranking system will look like, how many ranks there are, or how difficult it will be to progress through the ranks. More should be revealed in the weeks following Marathon’s launch, as Bungie has been doing a great job of keeping the community updated with future news and plans.
