Can your PC handle Marathon?

Marathon is the new extraction shooter being developed by Bungie, and the hype for the game is through the roof after its gameplay showcase in April. Any player with a system that's supported by the game is itching to get their hands on it, as the gameplay looks to be fresh and innovative. However, if you're solely on PC, then you need to know the system requirements for Marathon before you're able to get too excited about playing.

Any PC game has a list of hardware requirements that players need to meet if they want any chance of running the game, and Marathon is no different. With the closed alpha for Marathon just days away, PC players need to see the hardware required to boot up the game if they're lucky enough to get access.

Unfortunately, even after the April showcase for Marathon and the closed alpha coming up shortly, there are still no PC requirement lists for the game at the time of writing. This will change sometime before the closed alpha goes live on April 23, but for now, we have no minimum or recommended system requirement lists.

While this is disappointing for fans who need to know if their PC can run Marathon, we can likely assume the requirements will be somewhat close to what it takes to run Destiny 2. Destiny 2 is Bungie's other premium title on the market, and it should be similar to Marathon in terms of PC requirements.

However, with Marathon being a newer title, it will presumably require newer hardware in some regard. While you won't need a brand new PC with modern specs to run Marathon, you can expect the requirements to be a little bit more demanding than Destiny 2, but not by much.

Destiny 2 requires a near-decade-old CPU and GPU, along with only 8 GB of RAM to run efficiently. Marathon will likely require a slightly newer CPU and GPU, and 16 GB of RAM for the recommended hardware. The minimum hardware will still likely only require 8 GB of RAM and an older CPU/GPU combo.

Of course, we can't confirm anything just yet, as the official PC requirement lists for Marathon haven't been posted. That's simply our best guess, so you can make some plans before the closed alpha goes live.

We'll update this guide with the official PC requirement lists when they are made public.

In the meantime, check out our other guide on all of the official voice actors for Marathon.
