Bel’Veth, the empress of the void, will be League of Legends next champion, but there’s still limited details about her.

League of Legends currently has 159 champions, released over the past decade of the game’s existence. But details about the game’s next champion, Bel’Veth, are sparse. From leaks, rumors, and teases, we’ve seen a good amount of what LoL’s next champion will be. However, it’s often hard to parse all this information together.

Below we’ve outlined all the details we currently know about Bel’Veth, from their current role to their expected abilities.

Bel’Veth is a new void-based champion first hinted in Riot’s 2022 Champions video. At around five minutes 30 seconds into the video, the host, Ryan “Reav3” Mireles, is seemingly possessed with a purple glow. While possessed, he talked about an Emperess and talked about Bel’Veth (at the time described as the City of Bel’Veth). He also mentioned details about Remora, perhaps something related to the hero.

After months of speculation, more solid details about Bel’Veth emerged in April with the April 2022 Champion Roadmap. In it, a few more details of the champion were released. This confirmed that Bel’Veth was a jungler and a skirmisher.

In late April, a full character model for Bel’Veth leaked, thanks to YouTuber Ryscu, revealing the look of the character. An almost manta-ray-like creature, Bel’Veth could also transform into two forms.

Alongside the look of the character, we also got names of her abilities. Her Q will be known as Void Surge, her W, Above, and Below. E is Royal Maelstrom, and her Ultimate is Endless Banquet. Her passive is also known as Death in Lavender.

Obviously, all these details are pre-release and may change. Champions frequently go through large changes during their development, as anyone who can remember the huge amount of changes that Ao Shin when through during development.

When will Bel’Veth release?

Judging by how complete the model and details look, it would be reasonable to expect that the champion will release within the timeframe of Summer 2022. It’s expected that there will be more information about the champion unveiled at or after MSI, along with teasers for the next champion after Bel’Veth.

Ultimately, the release time frame is just speculation. So we can only sit and wait until more details are released. Beyond this, we’re super excited for a new void champion. Characters like Kassadin, Vel’koz, Cho’gath, Kog’maw, and Kai’Sa are some of the most interesting and unique designs in the game. A new monstrous member of the roster is very welcome.
