Here's everything you need to know about Welt's Novaflare buffs in Honkai Star Rail 4.2 and his new "Weightless" debuff.

Welt was one of the first 5-star characters available in Honkai: Star Rail upon the game’s release. Now, three years later, Welt is getting Novaflare buffs that also introduce a new debuff: Weightless. Here’s everything about the Welt Novaflare buffs.

When is Welt getting buffed?

The Novaflare buffs for Welt, alongside Huohuo, Seele, and Firefly, go live with the Honkai Star Rail version 4.2 update. This is scheduled for April 22, 2026.

This patch also adds the Elation Path for the Trailblazer, as well as two new 5-star characters: Silver Wolf LV.999 and Evanescia.

Welt’s Novaflare buffs

His Basic ATK and Technique are not getting changed.

This update undoes a little bit of the Nihility powercreep that has happened over the years. Now, he is a more viable option on some teams like Acheron. However, his newfound strength also makes him a competitive choice as a DPS.

If you’ve been pulling other Nihility units, though, there are better choices than him.

Skill – Edge of the Void (Bounce)

  • Now Bounces a total of 5 times, up from 2.
  • Total Energy Regeneration is unchanged (30), but the Energy per hit goes down (10 >>> 6)

Ultimate – Synthetic Black Hole (AoE)

  • Still has a 100% chance for hit enemies to be Imprisoned.
  • Imprisoned enemies now have their action delayed by 15% (down from 44%), but the Ultimate gains an additional effect:
  • After using his Ultimate, inflicts the Weightless state on all enemies. When targets in Weightless state are attacked, their actions are delayed by 4%. This effect can trigger up to 8 times per target per turn. Weightless lasts for 2 turns.

Talent – Time Distortion (Enhance)

Has been reworked to play around the new Weightless debuff.

  • Weightless enemies have their DEF reduced.
  • Welt deals additional Imaginary DMG equal to 125% (up from 75%) when hitting Slowed enemies.

Welt’s new Major Traces

  • Retribution – When allies hit Weightless enemies, their DMG dealt increases by 6%. This effect stacks up to 15 times and lasts for 2 turn(s). At the start of the battle, Welt regenerates 30 Energy.
  • Judge – When Welt uses Basic ATK or Skill, deal an additional instance of Additional DMG to the enemy target.
  • Punishment – When Welt’s Effect Hit Rate is greater than 40%, for every 10% that exceeds this value, increases ATK by 20%, up to a maximum increase of 80%. When using Ultimate, additionally restores 5 Energy.
Welt’s old Major Traces
  • Retribution – When using Ultimate, there is a 100% base chance to increase the DMG taken by the targets by 12% for 2 turn(s).
  • Judgment – Using Ultimate additionally regenerates 10 Energy.
  • Punishment – Deals 20% more DMG to enemies inflicted with Weakness Break.

Welt’s new Eidolons

Welt completely loses his Enhanced effect from E1.

  1. Legacy of Honor – Hitting Weightless enemies causes an additional instance of DMG.
  2. Unchanged.

  4. Appellation of Justice – Weightless enemies have their All-Type RES reduced.
  5. Unchanged.
  6. Prospect of Glory – Increase CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG against Slowed enemies when using a Skill or Ultimate.
