According to various posts online, Steam appears to have been banned in Vietnam as of May 7. Vietnamese users on Steam forums, Reddit, and other social media platforms state that their internet service provider (ISPs) are completely blocking access to the platform.



There is currently no official explanation from ISPs or the government for Steam's ban. However, people believe this may due to a large amount of the platform's content not adhering to local regulations.

Why is Vietnam banning Steam?



Various Vietnamese users on Steam, Reddit, and other social media all report the same thing. From one moment to the next, ISPs are banning all access to the Steam platform in Vietnam. The community on r/Helldivers humorously notes the timing of this occurring mere days after their victory over Sony's PSN requirement.



Users suspect Steam's ban to be an action by the Vietnamese government. One commenter on Steam reports an ISP support representative describing the order as "from above."



There is yet to be any official statements by any Vietnamese ISP or the government itself. However, a translation of this article reveals a possible motivation for Steam's ban in Vietnam.



In Vietnam, games featuring violence and other sensitive content require censorship in accordance with the law. Steam is reportedly distributing many "violent [and] adult games …but not asking permission."



The article also states that with no Steam office or official contact in Vietnam, "authorities are looking for solutions." It appears that the solution they are arriving at may be a total ban on Steam in Vietnam.

The Apex Legends Global Series Year 4 Split 1 finished on May 5. Over the course of the weekend, there were over 3,000 kills by dozens of different guns and grenades. However, one weapon dominated the field with over 800 kills alone. 



Here's what the pros used throughout the ALGS weekend to do the most damage and get the most kills.






Top 15 weapons by kills at ALGS Split 1



The most popular weapon by far for Year 4 Split 1 is the Havoc. This full auto energy weapon requires a little bit of a spin up before it fires, but pro players' game-sense make that an easy feat. 



The simple reason why the Havoc is so popular is that it shreds enemies in close to mid-range fights. The DPS for the Havoc is one of the highest in the game currently, making it a no-brainer choice.

In fact, the Havoc was so popular that the second place gun, the Hemlok, is behind by over 160 kills.

Damage doesn’t always equal kills in the pro league. Being able to poke enemies from a distance and force them into different positions can be just as important as securing kills. 



That’s why the Hemlok beat out the Havoc for damage in this Split, primarily because the windup needed for the Havoc can take too long for long-range shots.

The recent Yoda Backbling is one of the better Star Wars cosmetics in Fortnite. It draws directly from The Empire Strikes Back; plenty of people have spent their V-Bucks on it. However, players soon discovered a bizarre issue with the Backbling that would cause consistent game crashes. 



As pointed out by Fortnite leaker iFireMonkey, those with the Yoda Backbling equipped in Fortnite would experience a complete game crash after performing the "Zoidberg Scuttle" Emote. This Futurama-inspired Emote would cause the Yoda Backbling to glitch before Fortnite would close out entirely.

ALGS Split 1 Playoffs Los Angeles: Live scores & standings

Reject Winnity won the ALGS Split 1 Playoffs, ending a long wait for an APAC North team to bring home a LAN title. They have also ended the chokehold that TSM and DarkZero had over LAN titles.



DarkZero made a strong run for another LAN title going toe to toe with the eventual champions until the final game. 



This is a huge moment for Apex Legends, the ALGS has badly needed new stories and new champions. All the pre event discussion was all about the strength of North America. However, APAC North has sent a message loud and clear.



Reject Winnity take the ALGS Split 1 Playoffs crown



In the end, their victory was simple. Having cleared out a side of the final circle near Climatizer, they found themselves as the only Match Point team in the final three. 



Regardless of if Cloud9 or Serenity knew that they needed to eliminate Reject Winnity to continue the game, they had no real way to do so. Reject Winnity found themselves in control of so much space. Their Wattson Interception Pylon prevented them from being forced out of their position. 



Both Cloud9 and Serenity eventually had to engage each other. That left Reject Winnity with the easy task of cleaning up the scraps and securing a LAN title.

DarkZero fall just shy



Regardless of not taking the title today, it has been a really strong event from DarkZero. They broke the Group Stage points record this event and were in great form across the finals. They will rue a slightly messy endgame in Overlook that could have seen them take yet another LAN title.



Usually where DarkZero lead, TSM aren't that far behind. However the defending Champions barely registered at all on the leaderboard. They chugged to a very poor 17th place, only making it past 7th in a single game. TSM will look to improve ahead of Split 2, after a (by their standards) lacklustre event.
