How to tame a horse in Hytale

Horses are the only animals that you can ride in Hytale. With the massive area that you need to cover in exploration mode, riding a horse can allow you to travel much faster than running.

With just a few days following Hytale’s release, many players are wondering if they can tame a horse in the game. This guide will give you every important detail about horses, including the answer to whether you can tame them or not.

Hytale is still in its early access stage, so the game is still missing some quality-of-life features, and that includes taming a horse. The good news is, you can still ride a horse by interacting with it using the F button.

Once your avatar mounts a horse, you can travel significantly faster than at normal running speed. However, since you cannot tame the animal, it will run away as soon as you dismount.

Fortunately, there is a trick that lets you keep a horse. By building a fence-like structure where you want to keep it, you can restrict the horse’s movement to a small area, allowing you to ride it again later.

You can strategically build small fences in every zone so that you can use the horse to travel around the map.

The taming feature isn’t available in Hytale yet, but there’s a good chance the developers will add this mechanic in future updates.

Many players are also struggling to find a horse in the game. This mountable animal can only be found in Hytale’s Zone 2, the Howling Sands.
