Is the popular game, The Forest, cross-platform?

Imagine crashing into a remote forest, only to be hunted by cannibalistic monsters that are watching you at every corner. Sounds terrifying right? Would rather do that with a friend instead of alone, right? While the popular survival-horror game, The Forest, does allow for co-op multiplayer, is it cross-platform?

Here is the answer to whether or not The Forest is a cross-platform video game.

The Forest: Is the survival-horror game cross-platform?

When embarking into a game like The Forest, one would want to be as prepared as possible. This includes not playing the game alone.

But does the game allow cross-platform play? Or do players have to play with the same console they are gaming on?

Sadly, The Forest does not allow cross-platform, meaning you must play with whatever console you are playing the game on. Still, though, the game does allow for up to eight people in one game, making the co-op experience great.

The only issue is, it can be hard to find eight people that own the same system as you. Having the option of cross-platform play is very helpful when it comes to a game such as The Forest.

What is cross-platform play?

Cross-platform is when you can compete or play with other gamers across multiple different consoles. This means that PS5 users are able to play with Xbox players, PC players and so on.

Games that allow cross-play create a much more inclusive world, allowing for just about anyone and everyone to compete against or with one another.

Here is a list of a few popular games that allow cross-platform play:

  • Call of Duty
  • Fortnite
  • Rainbow Six Siege (Only Xbox and PS5)
  • Sea of Thieves
  • Among Us
  • Destiny 2

The list goes on and on.
