Another controller is far cheaper than an entirely new console.

Playing a couch co-op title is one of the best ways to spend time with a friend. But is Embark’s latest FPS The Finals split-screen?

Typically, video games steer clear of the split-screen experience. This means gamers have to purchase a console for themselves in order to play a game with their friends. However, there are some games that lean into that particular experience.

No, The Finals is not split-screen. This means you’ll have to purchase another console if you’re looking to game with your friend.

Or you’ll just have to take turns and watch your friend inevitably die as they miss an entire clip. Unfortunately, there aren’t many fast-paced shooters on the market that offer split-screen. Gone are the days of couch co-ops, long live the online multiplayer experience.

Without a split-screen option, this means you’ll have to play in one of the various multiplayer modes by your lonesome. Fear not, there are plenty of game modes to test out. Each with their own specific rules and play styles.

However, if the only thing holding you back now is two different branded consoles, we have some good news for you.

While there isn't a split-screen experience in The Finals, it is cross-platform. This means you can game with your friends despite their poor choice of console.

Players can game against PC players with crisp aim, or duke it out with their fellow aim-assist allies from any other console that The Finals is playable on. For those unaware, The Finals is on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. This means you’ll be able to take on any gamer from these consoles.

There are settings that make each experience with console and PC players fair. So, there’s no need to fear playing against the almighty PC gamer.
