Find out if your PC has what it takes to run Borderlands 4.

Borderlands 4 is the next installment in one of the most popular video game franchises on the market. The Borderlands franchise has always been known for a few things: loot, quirky humor, and its unique graphics. The cel-shaded graphics have become synonymous with the Borderlands games, and that style isn't going anywhere in Borderlands 4. However, if you want to experience the graphics and the entire game for yourself, you need to make sure your PC meets the system requirements for Borderlands 4.

In this guide, you can see the minimum and recommended PC requirements for Borderlands 4 so you know exactly what kind of performance you can expect after booting up the game for the first time.

Traditionally, the Borderlands games feature shaky performance on PC at launch. This nearly ruined the launch of Borderlands 3 a few years ago, as some PC players couldn't even get the game to hit 30 FPS in some areas of the game. With Borderlands 4, it seems those performance issues are back, so hopefully, the developers at Gearbox Software can deliver some switch patches to improve FPS for every PC player.

Of course, to ensure you have the highest chance of seeing the most frames possible, you'll want to make sure you at least meet the minimum PC requirements for Borderlands 4. Below, you can see both the minimum and recommended specs for the PC version of the game:

Borderlands 4 minimum requirements

  • OS: Windows 10 / Windows 11
  • Processor: Intel Core i7-9700 / AMD Ryzen 7 2700X
  • Memory: 16 GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 / AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT / Intel Arc A580
  • Storage: 100 GB available space
  • OS: Windows 10 / Windows 11
  • Processor: Intel Core i7-12700 / AMD Ryzen 7 5800X
  • Memory: 32 GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 / AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT / Intel Arc B580
  • Storage: 100 GB available space

The minimum and recommended specs aren't overly demanding in Borderlands 4. While the recommended specs do require a 30-series Nvidia GPU/5000-series AMD GPU, those cards are two generations old at this point. So are the processors in the recommended specs, which call for a 12th-gen Intel CPU or a 5000-series AMD GPU.

What might hold some PC players back from even meeting the minimum requirements, however, is the 16 GB of RAM. While 16 GB of RAM is becoming more and more common in today's age, many players hope that 8 GB is the minimum and 16 GB is reserved for the recommended specs. Aside from the RAM, though, the minimum specs shouldn't be too difficult for most PC players to meet. All the specs call for is a 9th-gen Intel CPU/2000-series AMD CPU and a 20-series Nvidia GPU, both of which are highly attainable in 2025.

You'll also need 100 GB of available space on a hard drive or SSD. As there are plenty of loading screens in any Borderlands game, it's highly recommended to download Borderlands 4 on an SSD if possible to lessen your wait times.

Hopefully, these minimum and recommended specs allow a majority of the community to play and enjoy Borderlands 4. However, poor performance at the game's launch and some steeper requirements in regards to RAM and storage space might spell disaster for some potential players.
