Simple Build is new to Fortnite Chapter 7 and makes the building mechanic easier to use. Here’s where to find the setting and how it works!

Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 1 is under, and Epic Games has introduced a new Simple Build setting into the fold. As the name suggests, Simple Build makes the game's building mechanic much easier to execute. However, some players will certainly not require this option and prefer the regular setup.

This article explains how you can toggle the Simple Build setting on and off to improve your gameplay experience one way or the other.

How to turn off the Simple Build setting in Fortnite

Simple Build is one of the many options you will find when navigating through Fortnite's seemingly endless list of settings in Chapter 7. You can find it under the 'Game' tab in the 'Building' sub-category. Once there, you can read more about Simple Build and toggle it on or off.

  1. Locate the 'Settings' menu
  1. Open the 'Settings' menu
  1. Click on the 'Game' tab and scroll down to 'Building'
  1. Locate 'Simple Build' and turn it on or off

What does this setting do?

As we covered earlier, the Simple Build setting simplifies Fortnite's building mechanic. It requires you only to use two buttons to place builds around your: one for floors, ramps, and cones, and another specifically for walls. This would be especially useful to players who usually dabble in Zero Build or anyone getting back into Fortnite after a long break.

The video demonstrates the Simple Build option, which lets you look in a specific direction and press the correct key or button to place a build. For example, you can look at the ground and press L2 on a controller to place a floor, slightly upward to place a ramp, and even further up for a ceiling and cone.

Your R2 button will place a wall, which encompasses all possible building options. It's a significant adjustment for anyone accustomed to building the traditional way. However, it could be beneficial for some, like the Simple Edit setting.

Is it worth using?

This might be the best possible option for players who don't usually play builds. Much of what drove those who previously played builds away is the complexity. Over time, it has become increasingly challenging to keep up with the average player.

Simple Build makes the game's standout mechanic more palatable. However, that doesn't mean just anyone can pick it up without any issues. There is a definite learning curve, but it's still simpler than the alternative.
