The coveted and prized Fortnite Champion Series (FNCS) Pickaxe will soon be available to all players. Despite Epic Games previously rewarding the "Axe of Champions" only to each regional FNCS winner, a recent open tournament awarded the Pickaxe to players who finished atop their respective regions. Next week, every player will have the opportunity to purchase the Axe of Champions. Here is what you need to know.
The Fortnite FNCS Pickaxe arrives in the Item Shop on September 4
According to an official Epic Games blog post, the Fortnite FNCS Pickaxe will debut in the Item Shop on September 4 alongside other FNCS-themed cosmetics. That means if you failed to win the Pickaxe via the recent FNCS Cup, your next chance is on September 4 at 8 p.m. ET.
Some rumors have indicated the Fortnite FNCS Pickaxe will cost 800 V-Bucks, a reasonable price for owning a piece of history. Unlike the previous Fortnite Champion Series winners, those who purchase the Axe of Champions 2.0 will own it forever. It's an absolute must-buy for collectors, as you may never have the chance to secure the coveted Pickaxe again.

Many critics have discussed how the Axe of Champions 2.0 is no longer unique. Rather than being owned by the best Fortnite players in the world, anyone can now have it. However, the same blog post outlined that a new Fortnite FNCS Pickaxe is in the works. Although the Axe of Champions 2.0 will be widely available, a new version will take its place.
