Here are the best and worst Reality Augments in Fortnite!
Fortnite's Reality Augments is the newest mechanic introduced in Chapter 4. Similar to a perk system in other games, players earn up to four Augments per match to benefit themselves and boost their overall chance of winning. Since Chapter 4 dropped in December, Epic Games has introduced more than 30 Reality Augments. However, not all are created equal.
Esports.gg brings you a comprehensive Fortnite Reality Augment tier list today. It's crucial to understand which perks are good and those which are worth re-rolling or passing on entirely.
What are Reality Augments?
If you're looking for a complete breakdown of this mechanic, look at this guide from earlier this season. To summarize, Reality Augments enhance your gameplay experience. The various perks available range from granting you a glider redeploy to spawning in a Chug Cannon.
Overall, the system has been well-received in the Fortnite scene because it adds a unique element. Below, we've provided our complete Reality Augment tier list, with "S" being the best and "D" being the worst.
Reality Augment S Tier
Shotgun Striker
Shotguns are a crucial weapon, regardless of whether you're playing Zero Build or Battle Royale. The Shotgun Striker Augment rewards the user with health for every shot that they hit on an opponent. Considering the strength and frequency of Shotguns, this is a no-brainer.
Aerialist
The Aerialist Reality Augment is one of the first to debut in Chapter 4 Season 1, and remains one of the best. It grants players the ability to deploy their glider on command when needed. Aerialist works as an asset to push an enemy player or team, retreat from a fight, and mitigate fall damage.
Bush Warrior
Bush Warrior should be a staple in your perk loadouts. This one allows players to heal while hiding in any bushes on the map. Bush Warrior heals up to 100 health and 50 shield over time, making it essential, especially if you are low on healing items.
Soaring Sprints
Soaring Springs is a mobility Reality Augment along the same idea as Aeralist. The perk grants you a Shockwave Grenade-type boost after jumping while you sprint. It is beneficial when going on the offensive, retreating, and traveling to the Storm Circle. Soaring Sprints can also be combined with the Grappler Bow for an added boost.
Zero Chance
Zero Chance is one of the newest Reality Augments to debut in Fortnite, and it's the ultimate W-key asset. This perk gives the user a Zero Point Dash ability after cracking an enemy's shield. You can use it to either finish the elimination or for mobility purposes.
Rift-jector Seat
Rift-jector Seat falls in the S tier for a good reason. This new Reality Augment forces players to Rift once their shield cracks. It's the ultimate tool to evade an attacker without spending your materials or healing items. Rift-jector Seat is worth looking into when it pops up on your screen.
Keymaster
After selecting this perk, the new Keymaster Reality Augment automatically grants you two Vault Keys. Vaults provide the best loot you could possibly imagine when playing Fortnite. For that reason, Keymaster belongs in the S tier.
A Tier
Splash Medic
Kicking off the A tier is Splash Medic Reality Augment, which makes finding Chug Splashes easier via Chests and Ammunition Boxes. It's a reliable tool since you can find healing items easier than relying on finding potions in Chests or elsewhere. Splash Medic is one you should prioritize if it's available.
Mythic Munition
It's difficult to look past a Reality Augment that gives you a Mythic Pistol, considering it's the only way to obtain this weapon. The Tactical Pistol is undoubtedly one of the more underrated weapons in the game, so the Mythic Munition perk is considerable. Additionally, you can combine this with other Augments like Pistol Amp and Light Fingers to maximize the Mythic Pistol.
Peely's Plunder
Another newer Augment in Fortnite is Peely's Plunder, one of the more unique options. This one instantly gifts players a Treasure Map, which leads to a Chest filled with worthwhile loot. Following the map can be a hassle and time-consuming, but the reward is an inventory upgrade.
Pistol Amp
Pistol Amp makes an already solid weapon even better since it increases the size of Pistol magazines. A more prominent magazine mixed with the Pistol's fast fire rate produces a lethal combination to which you should pay attention.
Light Fingers
Echoing a similar sentiment of Pistol Amp, the Light Fingers Reality Augment makes the Pistol a more viable weapon. It allows you to reload your Pistol faster. Combine this perk with Pistol Amp, and you can pressure and frustrate your opponents into an almost certain elimination.
Storm Mark
The Storm Mark Augment rounds out the A tier due to its usefulness in late-game situations. This Augment marks all players close to you as the Storm Circle closes. That means you can see enemies near you briefly, allowing you to plan your next attack or be weary of those nearby.
Icy Slide
Icy Slide fits into the mobility category of Augments. It allows players an icy speed boost when sliding. The feature turns off when the player returns to their feet, making it a solid option to traverse the landscape.
B Tier
First Assault
First Assault is the perfect B-tier Reality Augment. It's helpful in the grand scheme but not as good as the others. This one grants bonus damage on the first shot from your Assault Rifle after every reload. First Assault is good but not a go-to if there are better options.
Related articles
Rifle Recycle
Rifle Recycle follows a similar beat to First Assault—it's good but not great. This Assault Rifle-based perk reduces the chance of your weapon using Medium Ammo. Ammunition can be hard to come by, so Rifle Recycle is solid. However, it shouldn't be your first Reality Augment.
More Parkour
Parkour and advanced movement have become essential in Fortnite. Those mechanics are enhanced with the More Parkour Reality Augment, which grants players an energy boost after mantling or hurdling. Energy is vital at times in Fortnite. Therefore you could do much worse than More Parkour.
Tactical Armory
Tactical Armory is the perfect middle-of-the-road Reality Augment. It aligns with Mythic Munition in that this perk gives players access to the Tactical Assault Rifle and Combat Shotgun. Both weapons are decent in their own right, particularly the Assault Rifle, but there are enough reasonable weapons this season to make this not a priority.
Chug Gunner
This Reality Augment releases a Chug Cannon into your inventory. Chug Gunner can be helpful in a pinch, especially when you have no healing items. However, the item occupies two inventory slots, making it a hassle.
Bloodhound
Bloodhound is another decent yet situational perk that is not a priority. Like Storm Mark, Bloodhound allows you to mark players but in a slightly different way. Instead of an auto-marking situation, Bloodhound marks players you hit with a Marksman Rifle or Bow. If you like those weapons, this perk might be the one for you.
Shadow Striker
A recent Fortnite patch saw the return of Shadow Bombs—a legacy mobility item from Chapter 1. The Shadow Striker perk is the only way to retrieve Shadow Bombs, which are helpful when you need to rotate. If you find yourself in a bind and need to traverse the map, Shadow Tracker solves that problem.
Harvester
Lastly in the B tier is Harvester—one of the newer Reality Augments. This one would rank much higher in a Zero Build-only tier list. Harvester releases Big Bush Bombs and edible healing items when you destroy foliage. Big Bush Bombs are much more helpful in Zero Build.
C Tier
Last Shots
Last Shots is the most recent to join Fortnite's extensive Reality Augment list, and it's another Pistol perk. However, this one is not as good as the others since it only grants bonus damage on the last two shots of a clip. You had better hope your opponent is low on health. Otherwise, you'll have to reload after utilizing this perk.
Bow Specialist
The C tier starts with Bow Specialist, which is a personal preference. Some players might have this higher, but there are better weapons to prioritize than Bows if you want to win a match. Bow Specialist grants a faster reload and draw for all Bows this season. If you like Bows, you will probably like this perk.
Mechanical Archer
Continuing the trend of lowly ranked Bow Reality Augments is Mechanical Archer. Like Tactical Assault, players will receive a Shockwave and Explosive Bow if they activate this Reality Augment. This Augment is for you if you enjoy those weapons.
Rarity Check
Rarity Check can be an efficient option early in a Battle Royale or Zero Build match. This perk rewards players with shield siphon for hitting shots with an uncommon or common weapon. Rarity Check becomes relatively useless as the game progresses, so it's a situational choice at best.
Tricked Out
Of the two vehicle-based Reality Augments, Tricked Out is the better option. Upon activation, Tricked Out gives every vehicle you enter a Cow Catcher and Chonkers. Your vehicle is instantly more lethal when using this perk, but it should not be a first option.
Forecast
Theoretically, Forecast is an excellent perk in a Battle Royale game since it gives you insight into future Storm Circles. However, it's not essential with how quickly Fortnite lobbies evaporate nowadays. Forecast is much better in Zero Build, where zone knowledge can win you the match.
D Tier
Demolitions Munitions
The Demolitions Munitions Reality Augment increases your chance of finding Rockets or Grenades when destroying structures. It's not great, and it's one you should re-roll if it appears on your selection screen unless you have a Rocket Launcher.
Rushing Reload
Rushing Reload is one of the least valuable perks because it could be more practical. This perk allows players to reload their Shotgun while sprinting. It's not one of the better Augments, leaving it in the D tier.
Danger Hero
Danger Hero is a relatively new perk that allows you to regenerate health and gain movement speed after an enemy cracks your shield. This one is only good if you are sustaining damage throughout a game. Otherwise, you should look elsewhere.
Supercharged
The other vehicle-based Reality Augment, Supercharged, falls in the D tier because it's very situational. Supercharged guarantees your vehicle can sustain more damage and won't run out of gas unless you're boosting. There is no reason to use this Augment unless in Zero Build situations.
Party Time
Party Time is more annoying than anything in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1. This perk grants players a Balloon randomly after activating the Augment. While it can be suitable for rotating, fighting or trying to heal becomes annoying.
Jelly Angler
Jelly Angler spawns a Fishing Rod into your inventory and only allows you to pull Jellyfish. This perk is another situational option you can pass on confidently unless you're desperate for healing items.
