Here is everything you need to know about Fortnite’s new proximity chat-enabled Delulu game mode!

The time for proximity chat in Fortnite has finally arrived. Although many thought this day would never come, members of the Support-A-Creator (SAC) program can now queue into a specific Fortnite playlist called "Delulu" and use proximity chat to talk to others during a match. The game mode will go live for all players beginning on Friday, Sept. 19.

This article outlines everything we know about this new feature, including early reports and how it works.

Is Proximity Chat in Fortnite?

We've seen rumors circulating over the past year or so regarding this feature, and it's finally here. The Delulu playlist is now available in its early access stage, open only to members of the SAC program.

That means you can catch a glimpse of it on Twitch and YouTube. However, you won't have to wait long as Epic Games plans to make proximity chat available to all players on Sept. 19.

How does this new feature work?

From a game mode perspective, proximity chat is only enabled in the Delulu playlist. You won't have the opportunity to speak with others in Battle Royale or Zero Build for the time being. Once you enable the proximity chat option, you can queue into this playlist and talk with other players around you.

The function itself will be on by default once you load into the Delulu game mode, which means you don't have to toggle proximity chat on in Fortnite's settings menu.

What else should I know about Delulu and Proximity Chat?

The idea behind this game mode is to formulate alliances through proximity chat to earn the victory. That requires you to be trustworthy of would-be teammates while also keeping an eye out for any bad actors. It's also worth noting that matches can include up to 80 players, there are no respawns, and it's Zero Build.

Lastly, you can obtain a free umbrella glider by winning a match in Delulu, which is always a bonus, even if you have no interest in experiencing proximity chat.
