What happened at the end of Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle?
After Akaza’s defeat, Tanjiro and Giyu collapsed and a Kasugai Crow pleaded with them not to die. Also during the first credits sequence, Inosuke argued with another crow, demanding to be led to the strongest demon. Meanwhile, Kanao began preparations to avenge Shinobu after the latter's battle with Doma.

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle fights
- Shinobu versus Doma
- Zenitsu versus Kaigaku
- Tanjiro and Giyu versus Akaza
The three major fights in Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle were Shinobu versus Doma, Zenitsu versus Kaigaku, plus Tanjiro and Giyu versus Akaza. Below are our quick recaps of all of them.

Shinobu versus Doma
In Shinobu’s battle against Doma, Shinobu sought to avenge her sister Kanae. Shinobu used poisons to attack Doma, but the latter kept recovering from them. Doma eventually overwhelmed and began absorbing Shinobu. However, Shinobu, barely conscious during that process, continued her mission of defeating Doma by any means necessary. We won't spoil the rest, but if you would like to know what happens next, then we highly recommend reading the manga.

Zenitsu versus Kaigaku
Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle also showed Zenitsu defeating Kaigaku by creating a seventh form of Thunder Breathing despite only being known for mastering the first form. Growing up, Zenitsu really looked up to Kaigaku. From Kaigaku's perspective, however, the two were at odds. Zenitsu also only knew the first form while Kaigaku mastered all the others except the first. When Kaigaku became a demon, their master committed seppuku. In his final moments, Kaigaku showed no remorse and still wished for Zenitsu's death.

Tanjiro and Giyu versus Akaza
In the Tanjiro and Giyu versus Akaza fight, Tanjiro had a flashback of his father doing a dance and beheading a giant bear. These scenes showed the impact of being in a calm and focused state. Tanjiro also had a flashback involving Inosuke and their brief chat about killing intent. These memories helped Tanjiro focus and mask his killing intent, which took Akaza off guard. After beheading Akaza, however, the latter's body put his head back on and began to regenerate.
Akaza, meanwhile, began getting flashbacks of his past life as a human. He recalled how he began stealing so he could take care of his father. Although branded a criminal and receiving physical punishment for it, he continued to do so. His father committed seppuku because of this, making Akaza angry and heartbroken. A dojo-owner by the name of Keizo heard about this, and despite Akaza's past, invited him to the dojo, trained him, and introduced him to his daughter Koyuki.

In their talks, a bedridden and sick Koyuki often cried because of Akaza's kindness. When Akaza told her that they'll see fireworks in the future and that there was always next year and the year after that, it gave Koyuki hope and the will to live for the future. Eventually, they became fiancés.
Akaza visited his father's grave before the wedding, but when he returned to the dojo, someone poisoned Keizo and Koyuki's well, killing them and sending Akaza into a rage. He soon became a demon. Despite this, his Blood Demon Art technique represented the snowflake shape of Koyuki’s hairpin.
After these flashbacks, Akaza realized who he wanted to defeat the most: himself. He then did so to pass on.
