The Edge of Fate’s reveal event is fast approaching. Here’s what we know!

With Marathon on the horizon, many Destiny 2 players were concerned Bungie was pivoting away from the long-running franchise and leaving it for dead. Not so, with Bungie preparing to reveal the next expansion for Destiny, named The Edge of Fate.

The Edge of Fate will kick off the "Year of Prophecy" with more planned over the next 12 months. Before that, however, is the reveal of The Edge of Fate itself. Here's what we know about the reveal event for the next Destiny 2 expansion!

When is the Destiny 2 The Edge of Fate reveal?

The Edge of Fate reveal has been marked for May 6 at 9am PDT. If it's anything like previous reveals, it will likely run for an hour or so with commentary from Bungie. There will be plenty of trailers showing off The Edge of Fate update.

Here's the Destiny 2 The Edge of Fate reveal time in several other timezones:

  • 9am PDT, May 6
  • 12pm EDT, May 6
  • 5pm UTC, May 6
  • 6pm CEST, May 6
  • 9:30pm IST, May 6
  • 12am SGT, May 7
  • 2am AEST, May 7

You'll be able to watch the reveal on YouTube, with a premiere channel already up and running, but most will likely be watching via Twitch.

What is Destiny 2 The Edge of Fate?

The Edge of Fate is the current label for the next main expansion of Destiny 2. We know it's themed around the Nine, a mysterious cohort of characters deeply engrained behind-the-scenes of Destiny's lore.

We've met members of the Nine on the regular, with our weekend vendor Xur and The Emissary appearing several times over the course of Destiny 2's story. The dungeon Prophecy involves a dive into an unknown space commandeered by the Nine, and is one of three zones we're revisiting with the Rite of the Nine event (set to begin after this week's reveal).

There's been quite a build-up to The Edge of Fate. The end of Act 3, Heresy, wrapped the Hive's storyline and saw the banishment of Oryx once and for all, but out of nowhere, players were pulled into a huge community ARG involving a giant chessboard below Eris Morn's throne world.

With the solution to the chess ARG now solved, we've been treated to plenty of mysterious lore about the Drifter's journey following Eris' death. He landed at the edge of the Sol system at a desert-like planetoid — a supposed new destination coming with The Edge of Fate.

A big leak, courtesy of The Game Post, details much more coming in the next 12 months. The original Apollo name was just a placeholder, with "Year of the Prophecy" containing the next expansions for Destiny 2, including July's The Edge of Fate and next update "Renegades."

The data was found in a product page for the Year of Prophecy collector's edition bundle, with a short quote referencing "an invitation to a planetoid on the edge of Sol" known as Kepler.

We haven't seen any gameplay of this yet — that's what we'll likely witness this Tuesday during the Edge of Fate reveal.
