Season 2 is bringing the heat in Zombies.
After a long wait for some kind of update, Treyarch has delivered on 115 Day. As a part of the annual celebration, the developers gave players a massive update regarding the Zombies content coming in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Season 2. The headline of the news is a brand-new map, called "The Tomb," which is launching with the Season 2 update in Black Ops 6.
Treyarch has promised that every season going forward will include a new Zombies map, and so far, the developer has delivered on that promise. Season 1 introduced Citadelle des Morts, and Season 2 is bringing The Tomb, which takes more inspiration from the Liberty Falls map in Zombies.
Below, we'll give you the low-down on everything Treyarch revealed on 115 Day and what it means for Season 2 of Black Ops 6.
The Tomb map coming to Black Ops 6 Zombies in Season 2
The Tomb is launching at the start of Season 2 in Black Ops 6, currently slated for Jan. 28. The map is set on the remains of an ancient holy burial ground that dates back to 2500 BCE. A British archaeologist tried to excavate the site in 1908, but disappeared shortly after delving into the catacombs of the grounds.
According to Treyarch, The Tomb is designed similarly to Liberty Falls, which is the most-played Zombies map in recent memory. While camo-grinding challenges might have something to do with the increased player numbers, Liberty Falls is also more appealing to casual Zombies players.
"We’ve crafted The Tomb to provide an experience similar to Liberty Falls (by far our most-played Zombies map in recent years!), featuring tighter play spaces with a focus on replayability," Treyarch stated about The Tomb's map design.
As was the case with Citadelle des Morts, The Tomb will launch without a Directed Mode so players have a chance to solve the Easter Egg for themselves. Then, a couple of weeks after Season 2's launch, Directed Mode will be added, giving all players a shot at completing the Easter Egg.

Fan-favorite SMG returning in Black Ops 6 Season 2
In addition to revealing The Tomb, Treyarch also dropped a bomb for all Black Ops 6 players. Season 2 is set to bring back "one of the most iconic SMGs in Zombies history."
Of course, if a weapon is added to Zombies, it's also coming to multiplayer. Fans have speculated on what the SMG could be, but most have settled on either the MP40 or the PPSh-41. Both were a part of the original Zombies maps in World at War and have become staples of Call of Duty games over the years. We'll have to wait for more details on the mystery SMG as Season 2 draws nearer.
Zombies updates coming with Season 2
Finally, Treyarch also revealed a number of Zombies-specific fixes and updates that are arriving with Season 2. You can read the full patch notes on Treyarch's blog, but here's a quick list of highlights coming in the update:
- Calling Card and Camo Challenge tracker coming for Zombies and multiplayer
- Distinct HUD presets for Zombies and multiplayer
- Co-op pause feature coming to Zombies
- AFK players are now able to rejoin Zombies matches with their loadout intact
Season 2 is already off to a hot start, and this was sorely needed as the Call of Duty community has been in shambles during the course of Season 1. Hopefully, the rest of Season 2's content is what can bring some players back into the fold.
