The VMP has returned to Black Ops 6, but you need a glitch to fully use it.

One of the best prestige rewards available to players in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is the VMP blueprint for the Jackal PDW. This blueprint turns the Jackal into the famed submachine gun from Black Ops 3 + 4. The new weapon features the same color scheme, weapon build, and iron sights of the VMP.

However, when players unlock the VMP blueprint and try to use it in-game, they find that the iron sights are unusable. This is due to the blueprint's optic not being able to be removed. While Treyarch is investigating this bug, there is one way you can equip the VMP blueprint for the Jackal PDW in Black Ops 6.

How to unlock the VMP blueprint for the Jackal PDW in Black Ops 6

Before you can worry about using and fixing the VMP, you'll need to first unlock it. The VMP blueprint is unlocked by reaching level 50 in the eighth prestige (the raven icon). Once you reach that level during eighth prestige, you'll be able to equip the VMP blueprint by going into the Gunsmith, selecting the Jackal PDW, and then choosing the blueprint from the list of available builds.

If you want see the VMP blueprint before you prestige, simply go to your Barracks in Black Ops 6, then hit Progression. From there, choose "Prestige," go to the eighth prestige icon, and select it to see all available rewards for that prestige.

How to equip the VMP blueprint in Black Ops 6

With the VMP now unlocked for the Jackal PDW, you can equip it in the Gunsmith and see all of its attachments. While the weapon looks incredibly good, the Merlin Mini optic isn't what most players want to have equipped. Instead, a majority of players wish to remove the optic so they can use the VMP's iconic iron sights.

However, even if you remove the optic from the attachment slot, it will still appear in-game. Treyarch has confirmed a fix for this issue is in process, but during the meantime, follow the steps below to use the VMP without the optic:

  1. Unfortunately, this fix only appears to work in Black Ops 6 Ranked Play. You can try it in multiplayer, though.
  2. Go to your Loadouts menu and select the Jackal PDW from the list of SMGs.
  3. Hover over the "VMP Elite" blueprint for the Jackal and right-click/press Y/Triangle.
  4. This brings up a menu with some options. Select "Build Options" from the list.
  5. Choose "Reset to Default" in Build Options.
  6. Select the VMP Elite blueprint once again and then choose to remove all restricted attachments (Ranked Play only).
  7. From there, remove the optic, select the attachments you want, and don't touch the blueprint again.
  8. You should now be able to use the VMP's iron sights in-game.

Currently, this is the only way to use the VMP and its iron sights in a game of Black Ops 6. However, a fix for the bug with the optic should be coming soon, so we'll keep you updated on those developments. In the meantime, make sure your Jackal PDW loadout is correct in Ranked Play by viewing our previous guide.
