You need to EMP operators or killstreaks to complete a challenge in MW3.

The Week 4 challenges are now live in Season 6 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (MW3). While this might be the last week for Weekly Challenges until Black Ops 6, the developers can still release some tricky tasks. One of the tasks in the MW3 section of Week 4 is to EMP five operators or killstreaks.

There are a couple of ways to go about completing this challenge, but you might not have immediate access to either method in MW3. Read below for the full scoop on how to successfully get EMP hits.

How to use the EMP in MW3

The EMP, or electromagnetic pulse, is a way to disorient players in MW3. When used, the EMP eliminates all HUD elements from a player's screen, making it difficult to tell enemies apart from teammates and impossible to see your mini-map, bullets, equipment, and more. It also destroys most killstreaks currently in the sky and destroys ground killstreaks if it comes in contact with them. The EMP can be quite annoying to deal with, and there are two ways you can use it in MW3.

The first way is to unlock and use the EMP Grenade in the Tactical Equipment slot of your loadout. This is the easiest way to complete the challenge. The EMP Grenade needs to be unlocked by completing an Armory Unlock Challenge in MW3, which requires you to win matches to progress the challenge. You can activate the Armory Unlock Challenge for the EMP by going to the Armory Unlock tab in the Challenges menu.

The second way to use an EMP in MW3 is through the EMP killstreak. The EMP requires a 12 killstreak or 1,500 point streak to use and once called in, it disorients the entire enemy team. Obviously, getting that high of a killstreak is much tougher than simply using a piece of equipment. However, if you want to go this way, you need to also unlock the EMP killstreak through an Armory Unlock Challenge.

For the purposes of this challenge in Week 4, let's assume you're using the EMP Grenade. When you have the grenade ready, all you need to do is throw it at an enemy. If it hits them, which you'll know by getting a hitmarker, then you successfully EMPed that enemy. That counts as one hit towards your Week 4 challenge. You can also throw EMPs at ground killstreaks and hit them to progress the challenge.

All you have to do is hit five enemies or killstreaks with an EMP to complete the challenge. Once you do, you'll earn 7,500 XP and be one step closer to unlocking the Week 4 reward in MW3, the JAK Voltstorm.
