Ranked Play is officially arriving in Black Ops 6, and here are all the details.
Activision has released a massive blog for Season 1 of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. This includes details on everything from the new weapons and maps to everything you need to know about the Warzone integration. If you're a fan of Black Ops 6 multiplayer, though, one of the most exciting piece of news from the blog is the introduction of Ranked Play.
Ranked Play is arriving on Nov. 21 in Black Ops 6, one week after Season 1 has dropped. While a majority of the competitive mode will be similar to what we've seen in the past few years, there are some key changes to make this the ultimate version. You can see all the details on Ranked Play in our guide below.
What are the ranks in Black Ops 6 Ranked Play?
One of the cornerstones of Ranked Play in any Call of Duty title is, of course, the individual ranks. Nothing has changed on this front in Black Ops 6, as the same ranking system is in place from the past two years. You can see all the individual ranks here:
- Bronze
- Silver
- Gold
- Platinum
- Diamond
- Crimson
- Iridescent
- Top 250
- Champion (first overall player)
Every time you win a match in Ranked Play, you'll gain SR, which moves you closer to the next rank. Each individual rank has three sub-ranks (I, II, III), and you need to ascend these sub-ranks to move to the next individual rank. For example, you'll start out in Bronze I and you need to work through Bronze II and III to reach Silver I.
The SR you gain for winning a match depends on how much your team won by and your individual performance. The more SR you gain, the closer you'll get to moving up a rank.

Ranked Play rewards in Black Ops 6
Every season of Black Ops 6 will introduce Ranked Play rewards for players who reach a specific rank. In Season 1, players can earn an exclusive Operator skin for the highest rank they reach, which are viewable below.
As you can see, you only get an Operator skin for reaching Gold and above. There will likely be other rewards, such as emblems and calling cards, for reaching the higher ranks. Usually, Iridiscent and above players receive exclusive calling cards and emblems while other ranks only get an emblem or sticker. We'll know more about additional rewards when Season 1 is released.
New features in Black Ops 6 Ranked Play
Finally, Treyarch is introducing a slew of brand new, community-requested features in Black Ops 6. You can see what those are in the Season 1 blog or a summarized blurb about each one below:
- Team Forfeit - Black Ops 6 introduces the ability to vote as a team for a forfeit in Ranked. After a certain point during a match, you or a teammate can call for a vote to forfeit the current match. If your team agrees to forfeit, the match will end and you'll be given a standard loss. All players need to agree to forfeit.
- Map and Mode Voting - For the first time in Ranked, players will be given the ability to vote on a map and mode before a match has begun. Like in regular multiplayer, you'll be given two options to vote on as well as a classified option. Whatever option with the most votes is what the lobby will play.
- Party Skill Restrictions - Unlike in previous years, teams of four in Ranked Play now face no rank restrictions when queueing together. This means a Crimson and Bronze player can queue together if they're in a four stack. The lobby will matchmake according to the highest ranked play in the stack.
- Access to Ranked - In order to play Ranked, all players must win a total of 50 matches in regular Black Ops 6 multiplayer. This is a change from previous years when the requirement was based on your level.
- Loss Forgiveness - Black Ops 6 Ranked now features a free loss if it's your first match of the day. If you lose your first match of the day, you won't be deducted SR.
Those are all the new features coming to Ranked Play and they're exactly what the community has been asking for. We'll have to see how they play out when Ranked arrives on Nov. 21. You can also stay tuned for the full Ranked Play mapset and rules, which won't be released until the mode arrives in Black Ops 6.
