The Saug is a terrific close range option for Ranked Play.

So far in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Ranked Play, two weapons have dominated the close range meta: the Jackal PDW and the Saug. The Jackal PDW is the more preferred choice over the Saug, as it's what the professionals use and it's overall a stronger gun. However, with the right loadout, the Saug can rip through enemies at close and mid-range in Ranked Play.

According to the community, the pros in the Call of Duty League have banned the Saug, so it might not last much longer in the Ranked playlist. For now, though, you can freely use the SMG and its strongest loadout, which is viewable in the guide below.

Attachments for the best Saug loadout in Ranked Play

Fortunately for everyone, the Saug doesn't need to be unlocked for you to use in Ranked Play. Once you hop into the playlist in Black Ops 6, you'll have access to it and every attachment available on the weapon. So, you can equip its best loadout as soon as you boot up Ranked Play.

Below, you'll find our recommended attachments for the Saug:

  • Muzzle: Compensator
  • Barrel: Reinforced Barrel
  • Underbarrel: Vertical Foregrip
  • Rear Grip: Ergonomic Grip
  • Fire Mods: Recoil Springs

While you could add the Gunfighter wildcard to get a stock and perhaps a magazine included on the loadout, the Saug only needs five attachments to succeed. The loadout features buffs to every major stat on the Saug, allowing you to take on any practical gunfight in Ranked Play.

We start with the Compensator and the Vertical Foregrip, two attachments that improve vertical and horizontal recoil control. The Recoil Springs further improve both of those stats, making the Saug a much more controllable weapon, especially at longer ranges.

Following those attachments, the Reinforced Barrel increases damage range and bullet velocity so the Saug kills a little faster. Finally, the Ergonomic Grip buffs several mobility stats, including slide to fire, dive to fire, and aim down sights speed.

And that completes the full Saug loadout for Ranked Play. It makes the Saug more competitive with the Jackal PDW, which also has quite a strong loadout in Ranked. However, you don't want to take too many long range gunfights against a Krig C or Model L, as the Saug still has its limitations.
