Looking back at 2025
During 2XKO’s early access, we had the chance to witness the game’s first tournaments worldwide. Over 1,500 community-run events took place, alongside 22 First Impact-sponsored tournaments, attracting thousands of players from around the globe. Here are some of the biggest 2XKO moments of 2025:
- Wawa won in front of his home crowd at 2NICE KO at Evo France
- The SonicFox vs Leffen showdown at DreamHack Atlanta Grand Finals
- Leffen and Supernoon became the first duo to win a First Impact event at RISC
- Diaphone and K7_Showoff won both tournaments at Midwest Mixfest as a duo
- 2WINz Haru and Toshi have won many tournaments and are topping the Challenger leaderboard in Japan
Riot Games has a long history in the competitive scene, particularly with the success of League of Legends and VALORANT. However, with 2XKO, their approach will be slightly different.
Rather than creating new leagues from scratch, Riot will support existing fighting game events. This support will come in the form of funding, promotion on official Riot channels, prize pool boosts, and investment in the long-term growth of the FGC.
