Fortnite Star Wars 2024 event: Early patch notes (v29.40)

Here is what to expect in the Fortnite x Star Wars 2024 event!

Fortnite and Star Wars are back at it again for the annual Star Wars Day celebration.  For the 2024 edition, Fortnite presents a new Star Wars event under patch v29.40, due to launch on May 3. This update comes packed with more Star Wars than ever before, including Battle Royale, LEGO Fortnite, Rocket Racing, and Fortnite Festival.

This article includes everything you need to know about the upcoming Fortnite x Star Wars v29.40 update.

Chewie has arrived in Fortnite for the first time. The v29.40 has welcomed Han Solo’s loyal Wookiee friend to the Island as a non-playable character (NPC). However, he’s not unarmed. Chewbacca has entered Fortnite with his signature Bowcaster weapon, which you can find on the Island.

Chewbacca rotates through various Imperial Roadblocks each match, so you will have to keep an eye out for him. If you rescue him, he’ll roar in appreciation, hand you a Bowcaster, and join you for the remainder of your match.

You can also find Bowcasters in various Imperial Chests around the map.

Darth Vader and his Lightsaber return to Fortnite’s Island

Darth Vader is back as a boss in Fortnite with an army of Stormtroopers. Like in previous Star Wars events, you can battle the Imperial forces. You can wield his Lightsaber or a Stormtrooper E-11 Blaster if you eliminate Vader and his crew.

Star Wars Battle Royale 2024 event Quests and rewards

It wouldn’t be a proper Fortnite Star Wars event without Quests, and there are plenty. The first phase of Star Wars Quests will be available on May 3 at 9 a.m. ET followed by the second phase on May 7 at 9 a.m. ET. If you complete five before May 14, you will receive the AWR Pack Back Bling.

The long-awaited LEGO Fortnite x Star Wars collaboration is also included in the v29.40 update. You can now enjoy unique Star Wars assets in the LEGO game mode. Furthermore, this update has debuted the  LEGO Pass: Rebel Adventure–the first-ever separate pass for LEGO Fortnite.

Fortnite’s LEGO Star Wars Pass follows a similar structure to the recent Avatar and TMNT passes. There is a Free and Premium track, with different rewards available at each level. The Premium upgrade costs 1,400 and features 11 additional rewards on top of those on the Free side.

As for buildings, you can now construct a Rebel Village and use various Star Wars-themed weapons. Those include Lightsabers, Bowcaster, DL-44 Blasters, E-11 Blasters, and Thermal Detonators.

This May 3 update even includes the Fortnite Festival game mode. Once Fortnite v29.40 drops, players can perform in the famous Mos Eisley Cantina, where Greedo did NOT shoot first.

While performing in this memorable venue, you can complete Fortnite Festival Star Wars Quests to unlock the Seven-String Hallikset Guitar. These Quests will appear in-game at 9 a.m. ET on May 3 and conclude on May 14 at 9 a.m. ET.

Fortnite x Star Wars Rocket Racing Quests and unlockable decals

But wait, there’s even more. Fortnite’s Rocket Racing is in on the Star Wars fun. This game mode will feature a separate Star Wars Questline for players to complete. Those who finish all 14 will receive the Energy Binders Trail for their vehicle.

Rocket Racing players can also participate in the May the Fourth Questline to unlock a pair of Star Wars Decals. Completing four will net you Anakin’s Decal, while finishing eight grants you the Darth Maul Decal.

These Quests are available in-game from May 3 at 9 a.m. ET until May 20 at 9 p.m. ET.

Last but certainly not least, we must address the Star Wars Fortnite cosmetics coming to the Item Shop. The new Dragobah Luke, Lando Calrissian, and AWR Trooper debut in the Item Shop on May 3 following the update. Each skin has a LEGO counterpart that can be enjoyed in game mode.
