Welcome to the Ubisoft multiverse.
XDefiant is an upcoming free-to-play multiplayer shooter from Ubisoft, which will feature characters from a wide range of different Ubisoft titles. A sort of Ubisoft multiverse, if you will. The studio describes the game as a “fast-paced arena shooter” where players will face off in 6v6 online matches. XDefiant will also utilize factions for class-based gameplay. Currently, the XDefiant closed beta is available.
What are the factions?
So far, Ubisoft confirmed five unique factions which will each have their own play style. Additionally, the developers promised regular updates with new content coming to the game roughly every three months. Any chance for a future Rayman faction?
- Libertad: Far Cry
- A revolutionary group from Far Cry 6 which will act as a support faction with healing abilities. In fact, their very presence will help you heal!
- Cleaners: Tom Clancy’s The Division
- These janitors turned fighters will use their flamethrowers for area denial and control. Additionally, they have a flamethrower drone.
- Echelon: Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell
- Splinter Cell’s stealth operatives will, obviously, serve as a faction focused on stealth and sneak attacks, which will be especially easy since they’re invisible on the minimap.
- DedSec: Watch Dogs
- The elite hackers of Watch Dogs will be able to disrupt their enemies abilities and use Spiderbots to track down their prey.
- Phantoms: Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon
- Obviously, the Phantoms will be the tank faction. I mean, just look at them in that gameplay trailer! They will have multiple types of shields and increased health to aid them in battle.
