This isn’t the first time that WoW has created an in-game item to support a charitable cause. In 2024, the Reven Pack featured a charity pet inspired by the “The Remarkable Life of Ibelin,” documentary on Netflix. The documentary went into the life of player Mats “Ibelin” Steen, who suffered from Duchenne muscular dystrophy. All of the proceeds from the Reven Pack’s sales went to CureDuchenne, which continues to fund research and care for people with the neuromuscular disease.

In the past, WoW also worked with BlueCheck Ukraine, which is a collective that helps Ukrainian non-governmental organizations (NGOs) with financial support. The Sunny and Flurky pets raised $1.5 million.
