Thrall, an iconic World of Warcraft character, is now a new sidekick option on the Waze navigation app. This collaboration, called "Drive With World of Warcraft," is in celebration of the game's 20-year anniversary!

Waze x World of Warcraft features Thrall

In addition to selecting Thrall as a sidekick option, Waze users can also choose a red drake to represent their vehicle. There are Horde and Alliance as visual options, too.

Chris Metzen voices Thrall on Waze app

The English version of Waze's Thrall sidekick feature includes voice navigation. Thrall is voiced by none other than Chris Metzen! This is notable because Metzen played a key role in shaping the Warcraft universe. He created and voiced Thrall, who was the former Warchief of the Horde.

One of Thrall's voice lines on the Waze app is "Breathe — this is not the end of the world" during heavy traffic. When drivers do U-turns, Thrall says, "A clever strategy to fool any pursuers on our tail."

In the English version of the app, just tap the "Pick a sidekick" option and select the "Drive with World of Warcraft" feature to get started. As for other countries, tap on the menu banner to opt into the feature.

Who is Thrall in World of Warcraft?

Thrall's story alone makes him a favorite among fans. Before he became the Warchief of the Horde, he fought in the pits of Durnholde Keep. There, his childhood friend and "sister of the spirit" Taretha Foxton sparked his wish for freedom by sneaking him books. He called her "Tari." It was also Tari who helped him escape Durnholde Keep and Blackmoore. She created a distraction involving fire, allowing Thrall to slip away amidst the chaos.

Later, alongside Orgrim Doomhammer, Thrall liberated orc camps. Thrall also helped Grommash Hellscream in breaking the blood curse on his people. Thrall even learned the ways of the Shaman thanks to Drek'Thar of the Frostwolf clan.

As Warchief of the Horde, Thrall worked with inhabitants of Azeroth. After the Great Cataclysm caused by Deathwing, he stepped down and joined the Earthen Ring.

We could go on forever about Thrall's story, but we recommend reading the early World of Warcraft books about him as well. These were written by Christie Golden, who also played a key role in bringing Thrall to the hearts of players and fans.
