Echo players claim WoW MDI 2024 Group A victory

Between Feb. 16 and Feb. 18, the top Dragonflight Season 3 WoW MDI teams cleared dungeons and raced against time. Group A featured eight teams in total, with Echo taking home the gold. The players earned the lion's share of the $30,000 prize pool and advanced to the 2024 WoW MDI Global Finals.

In the first round of the tournament, Echo bested Some Seriousness 2-0 before facing Dawgs and going 1-2 in the quarterfinal. This sent Echo into the lower bracket, but the players went on 2-0 win streaks against Date Night and Legendary before facing Dawgs once again and taking the match 2-0.

WoW MDI 2024 Group A results

After climbing their way back to the top, Echo players faced Last Hope in the 2024 WoW MDI Group A final. The teams raced against time in the Everbloom dungeon, with Echo taking down the first boss the fastest. The same thing happened with the second boss, but Last Hope was just four seconds behind. Despite this, Echo continued to maintain the lead and took down Yalnu the fastest. The lead Echo had at the start proved advantageous overall.

Meeres talks Dawgs, tech, and more

In the post-match interview, Meeres briefly talked about his portal technique and his experience as a tank, noting that being a tank is similar to being the goalkeeper in sports. He then acknowledged Dawgs' impressive performance throughout WoW MDI Group A.

"I think Dawgs — I was so surprised how well they played against us," Meeres said. "I feel like they always have this tendency to always play incredibly [consistently] with their play styles and then [we] see them the series after and they start to have a little bit more sloppy ones, but against us, they play so incredibly well." Meeres added that he's excited about what Dawgs will bring to the WoW MDI Global Finals.
