Cross-faction guilds in Dragonflight patch 10.1
Horde? Alliance? Why not both? Cross-faction guilds are arriving in World of Warcraft, according to associate game director Morgan Day in an interview.
"That is real. That will be in the PTR," Day said. "You know, the PTR is coming later this week, I believe, and that will be available day one on the PTR."
Day added that his team is quite excited about it. He noted how these types of guilds align with some of the philosophies that his team has been discussing about cross-faction gameplay. The World of Warcraft team is also trying to be careful about these changes.
"And we are just trying to be really considerate with those changes," Day explained. "And, you know, watching where we step as we make changes because we recognize the impact that that has on not just our community, but the game itself, right?"

Day also acknowledged how the Alliance and Horde factions are a huge part of World of Warcraft. Even if he could fight alongside champions of other factions, the significance of Alliance and Horde will not leave the game.
"Like factions, Alliance and Horde are a huge part of World of Warcraft. Even if I can play with people on the other factions just, you know, the tremendous weight that they have, even in the story, or especially in the story, is something that, you know, will never go away in World of Warcraft," he said.
