Blizzard reveals World of Warcraft: The War Within release date

World of Warcraft: The War Within release date

World of Warcraft: The War Within will launch worldwide on August 26, 2024. However, players with either the Epic Edition or physical Collector's Edition will be able to get early access on August 22, 2024.

Players who wish to get the War Within ahead of time can do so through the expansion's official website.

World of Warcraft and Diablo 4 at Xbox Showcase 2024

The announcement of the release date arrived during the Xbox Showcase in Los Angeles on June 9. During the event, Blizzard also revealed October 8, 2024 as the launch date of the Diablo 4's Vessel of Hatred expansion.

"It’s so exciting to be here alongside other amazing developers at Xbox Showcase to reveal our release dates for World of Warcraft: The War Within, and Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred," Blizzard president Johanna Faries said. "These releases are kicking off what is to be an exciting next few months, which will include World of Warcraft’s 20th anniversary - we will share more later in the year."

World of Warcraft: The War Within details

The upcoming expansion will be the first part of the Worldsoul Saga, which was first teased at BlizzCon 2023. World of Warcraft: Midnight and World of Warcraft: The Last Titan will follow this expansion.

"Journey through never-before-seen subterranean worlds filled with hidden wonders and lurking perils, down to the dark depths of the nerubian empire, where the malicious Harbinger of the Void is gathering arachnid forces to bring Azeroth to its knees," Blizzard stated.

Prior to the recent Xbox Showcase announcement, select players also got to check out the expansion through a beta test. According to Blizzard, this beta test included new systems, Earthen, delves, dungeons, four new zones, hero talents, new recipes, professions, enchantments, the Deephaul Ravine battleground, and more.
