High-flying Team Secret take on the unyielding Zeta Division

Zeta Division came out on top of a tension packed series against RRQ in their previous match, which they won 2 - 1 despite the final map going to eight sets of Overtime rounds. They had a rough go of things in that match. Their slow and methodical approach on their attack rounds only seemed to hinder them. That being said, there were a few bright spots for the Japanese team.

Most notably, Dep as well as their IGL Laz who were lights out for Zeta Division. They are going to need to be on their A-game today if they want to get past this ever-impressive Team Secret roster and put themselves within touching distance of that last Champions spot. But that will be easier said than done.

Team Secret were the runaway victors in their previous match against Gen.G. The Filipino side made a statement of intent in their 2-0 win, showing why they are the heavy favorites to secure the final ticket to Champions 2023. With their high fragging output and well-coordinated pushes on both sides of the map, Team Secret are a true force to be reckoned with in this LCQ.

They will likely fancy their chances against Zeta, given that they were victorious the last time these two sides met. But if we have learned anything in this LCQ, it is that Zeta are one tough foe to put away.

Laz brings the pain with his Chamber on Lotus

We head over to Team Secret's pick of Lotus for Map 1 of this series. Zeta Division bust out a double duelist composition with Laz deciding to bring out Chamber for this battle. Whereas Team Secret go with a double-initiator composition.

Zeta take the opening pistol round as well as their anti-eco to begin their attack half. They are also able to convert on their bonus as well as in the first proper rifle round of the map as they pull out an early 4 - 0 lead. Secret are able to get themselves on the board, but Zeta Division continue to break down their defense, with Laz finding a lot of value with Chamber. Which gives the rest of his team license to run riot across the map, as their efforts allow them to put together a 9 - 3 lead to take with them into halftime.

Team Secret take the second pistol round of the map and go flawless in their anti-eco as they begin to slowly chip away at Zeta's lead. But Zeta respond well to deny Secret their bonus round allowing them to hit the double-digit mark on the map. The Japanese side reaches map point in no time as Secret struggles to deal with their post-plant setups. The Filipino side are able to shave a few more rounds off of Zeta's lead to give themselves a glimpse of overtime. But just as it looked like that might become a reality, Zeta come up with a thrifty win to rip Lotus away from Team Secret 13 - 9 and give themselves a 1 - 0 lead in the series. With their IGL Laz finishing the map with an impressive tally of 26 kills across both halves.

Zeta rise to the occasion on Fracture

After their strong start on Lotus, Zeta Division bring us over to Fracture for Map 2 of this series. And they opt to continue leaning into their double-duellist and Chamber composition, but with Crow switching onto Breach and SugaZ3ro on Brimstone. Team Secret decide to go more standard double-duelist composition, with JessieVash pulling out a surprise Killjoy pick.

Team Secret take the opening pistol round and are able to convert on their anti-eco. They manage to take their bonus round as well before Zeta answers back with a thrifty win. And it doesn't take long for Zeta to tie things up and then surpass Secret's lead at 4 - 3. The map descend into a bit of a scrap as the teams proceed to trade blow for blow in the late stages of the half. Which leads to the teams finishing the first half level at 6 - 6, with not much to split the two of them.

Zeta Division take the second pistol round of the map and their anti-eco to give them back their lead. And they are able to go on a bit of round streak as they eclipse the 10 point mark on the map. A 3k from Invy enables Team Secret to convert on a much needed thrifty round for them. But TENN answers back with a 4k to put his side onto match point. Zeta may have been a little fortunate to be in this match to begin with, but the Japanese side truly rose to the occasion in this one. And with one last display of slaying power, Zeta Division are able to close out Fracture 13 - 7, the series 2 - 0 and book their place in the VCT Pacific LCQ grand final.
