Eight teams remain and it’s not who you might think would make it

The group stage of the VCT Champs 2023 has come to an end. Sixteen teams started at the event and only half of them now remain in the playoffs. Right after the group stage, Riot also revealed the VCT Champs Playoffs Schedule.

The VCT Champs Playoffs matches are as follows:

  • Fnatic vs LOUD
  • PRX vs FUT
  • DRX vs BLG
  • Evil Geniuses vs EDward Gaming.

The playoffs feature a double-elimination format where each team gets at least two opportunities to prove themselves. Teams that fall down to the lower bracket will, obviously, have a tougher time than those in the upper bracket. But if history is anything to go by, wading your way through the lower bracket might just prove to be the necessary warmup when you do actually reach the Grand Finals.

When does the VcT Champs Playoffs start?

The VCT Champs Playoffs kick off on August 17 with the series between Fnatic and LOUD. One of the best teams from EMEA and the best from Americas region will go head-to-head at the Shrine Expo Hall.

While most of the Playoffs matches will take place at the Shrine Expo Hall, the final four teams will compete at the Kia Forum. With a seating capacity of 17,505, thousands of fans will be there to witness the world’s best VALORANT teams in action.

The Group stage has seen teams from all over the world in fierce competition. There have been quite a few upsets, and two teams from China have qualified their way through to the playoffs. With VALORANT’s recent release in China this year, this bodes well for the game’s future in one of the biggest game markets in the world.

VALORANT fans can catch all the action starting August 17 on the official VALORANT Twitch channel.
